Since I updated to 2.40, I have been taking advantage of the in-game XMB to change the "My Comment" to display what race I am playing.
I usually change the comment during the 1-2 minute "player matching" online loading screen, since I'm not doing anything else but waiting anyway.
I think this is a great way to let everyone see where you are at once with little effort. I'll put what race I am playing and sometimes what car I am driving.
Let me know if this is something that you may consider doing.
