Hi all. I've always wanted a hybrid and have spent a fair sum of money trying but have completely failed. Mainly due to time, working with rally/racing cars but also I can't learn (again time). I'm asking, no make that PLEADING for someone to make one for me. I know this might cause alot of boo-hoo but if someone is living in South Wales and can do good hybriding please, please contact me. I have little in the terms of rewards apart from constant praise and any slot car requests (Scalextric cars not going I'm your man) that's about all. I would really, really appreciate it. I'll do all the basic spec and let you get on with it. If I post a memory card to you or something. Thanks very much. Please reply someone.

So it's just £10, down load the mk programme and change parts? If I bought the stuff could I then download other peoples cars or ask you to make one for me? Is the MAxDrive is just a memory stick? You seem to be the expert on this. Also will it work with Gt4? Thanks.

In order...

Yes
You can download the GT3gEdit programme anyway, though you'd not find out how your edits react until you get a device capable of transferring information between PC and PS2.
Yes and yes.
Mmmm, yes though it's the software that makes the whole thing work - it's not as simple as just plugging a USB stick in.
No, it won't work with GT4, as there's no similar garage edit programme for GT4 - though you can still transfer GT4 replay and gamesave data off your memory card to back them up.

Wow thanks very much. Should I download the programme form your site? Thanks. P.S. What MaxDrive should I buy or do you have a link please? Backpressure.

Yep - the programme is available on my site.

This MaxDrive is the standard one, but seems to be out of stock. eBay might be a good bet.

If you can stretch to £14, they do have the 128Mb MaxDrive, though it's not due for release until September.

I have bought the exact item that was linked to me so what must I do now? The instructions say I need an Action replay Max and I've seen other posts declairing that the files need converting then converting again. The booklet requires a degree in mind-reading and I'm really stuck. What must I do? Sorry if I'm being thick, I've never done this before. Thanks very much for all your help.

Stick the USB pen you got into the PS2.
Stick the disc you got into the PS2.
Stick the memory card with your gamesave on it into your PS2.
Turn the PS2 on.
When the software has loaded, use it to COPY the gamesave (not compress or move) from the memory card to the USB pen.
Delete the gamesave from the memory card.
Shut off the PS2 when it's done.
Put the USB pen into your PC.
Open the folder.
Copy the .max file to somewhere safe and DON'T GO NEAR IT AGAIN (this is your backup)
Use the .max to .xps convertor (available at GTRacing Point here) to convert the .max file on your USB pen to a .xps file.
Discard the .max file on the USB pen.
Copy the .xps file to somewhere safe and NEVER GO NEAR IT AGAIN (this is another backup).
Open GT3gEdit and, from it, open the .xps file.

Edit at will.

Save the new garage as a new .xps file - discard the old one.
Use the .xps to .max convertor to convert the .xps file into a .max file.
Stick the USB pen you got into the PS2.
Stick the disc you got into the PS2.
Stick the memory card you want the gamesave to go to into your PS2.
Turn the PS2 on.
When the software has loaded, use it to COPY the gamesave (not compress or move) from the USB pen to the memory card.
Shut off the PS2 when it's done.
Remove the USB pen and the CD.
Put in GT3.

Enjoy.

Thanks very much again. I have used cars from other people's garages and have managed to change at least the drive on cars. Why is it though that when I change the chassis to F1 that the shell must change aswell? I'm after a Subaru Impreza Rally car with an F1 chassis, but the shell has changed aswell? Any help appreciated.

If you're using the version 38 build of GT3gEdit, you should just be able to highlight the chassis cell, hit F5 and take your pick.

From what I know, changing the chassis pretty much just alters wheelbase and other wheel related dimensions. I think you are wanting the suspension and other parts as opposed to changing the wheelbase.

Every car I've editied has gone to the blue F1. I just change the engine to a Pikes Peak in say a Mini and it works... with the addition of a new shinny shell that isn't a Mini. Is there a default or something? I've loaded my garage, edited and then placed back and it all works except for the shell.

That's a little peculiar. Can I assume you're following my guide step-by-step and not deviating?
