Notice the volume control right in the middle of my screen. Its always on top whenever I open a new window or anything.

I hope someone can help. I dont know if it has anything to do with that but my computer is running REALLLLYY slow for some reason unknown to me. :nervous:

This has happened to me before, no big deal. just click on the volume control level (in the "adjustment line")

If that doesn't work, i dont know anything else

umm... had you considered a reboot?

Sometimes I get weird menus like that hanging out on my desktop for no reason. It usually occurs when I have some CPU intensive operation going on and decide it isn't being worked hard enough, so try and launch something from the taskbar :dunce:.

Usually adjusting something in the window fixes it, but a reboot never fails

Indeed, that seemed to fix the problem, now I just have to figure out why the fricken thing takes so long to start up.

I suggest, if you have the time, to follow the instructions here (just ignore his hate for Firefox :P):

If you haven't got the time, just do all of the latter instructions that actually help speed things up, like some of it could be to do with programs that boot-up in the background on start-up that you don't know about.

I done this a month or two back and has sped this PC up to nearly as fast as I remember it years ago.

I do suggest avoiding CCleaner though, as it seems to screw up Firefox a little. I know this as I ran it on another PC a week ago, and the same problem starting happening. Firefox will occasionally freeze and crash for no apparent reason while you're typing a message. Reinstalling Firefox doesn't get rid of it either. :indiff:

Sweet deal, I'll look into that when I get home from school. My laptop isnt even that old (like 2 years) and it takes sooooo long for it to boot up. Its really annoying.

Edit: I'm pretty sure that my effingham virus scan is whats taking so long to boot up. *Shakes fist*

Wow! That CCleaner just freed up over 150 mb of junk from my hard drive. This website fricken rocks. 👍

Yet another edit: over 280mb removed from my pc. +rep for G.T.
