So appearently the AI improved(even says on description). I never thought they would pull it off. Or could pull it off. But anyways, so we can compare experiences, post here what you think and what you've noticed.

I was doing arcade mode and some of the cars seemed less skilled than they usually are. I hit one car on the last turn before the 2nd U-Turn in Grand Valley and he hit the wall went to the left and spun out. A few other cars seemed all over the place at times.

I've done some grinding in my GT LM Spec ii. I must say, i am most impressed with PD's efforts. Pre update, the GT's would get 1-4. Now however i was in a 6 way fight all the way. It ended up with a pretty surprising leader board.
1st: Me, GT LM
2nd: AI, Chapparel 2J
3rd: AI, Dodge Viper
4th: AI, GT LM
5th: AI, Corvette C5R
6th: AI, GT LM

Is there still a rabbit car? Or is the front of the pack closer to each other?

I might start playing again.

ohh , i just tried a few minutes ago, oohh its so exciting!!!!

Im currently downloading the update

In the official notice at gran turismo .com it says

"Race choreography and opponent car AI controls for licence tests and A Spec events have been adjusted"

Does that mean you can select a scalable difficulty level for the AI or are they just better?

They're better :)

@spagetti... No rabbit anymore. I was the rabbit bieng chased by a pack of hungry bob dogs :nervous:, Much more bearable than how it used to be :sly:

Great news.

I am officially returning to GT5.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to try this update until next week. So, what I want to know is has the AI improved their braking? I've always found that the AI brake really early making it far too easy to overtake them. Are they braking any later with the update?

They still brake too early based on my test in a one make race, but the AI still uses stock cars here....

I've played quite a bit of arcade and the AI seem much worse. PD improved the AI avoidance of the player car but this has had some bad effects. If you pass in front of the AI the will slow down and avoid you! So you are overtaking them leaving a corner and they will slow down and hold up or get passed by the other AI, it's rediculous. The AI might be slightly faster bby themselves (i'm not sure) but racing against the player is just stupid. PD need to make the AI much more agressive because at the moment it's far too easy to win a fair race against the AI.

The AI doesn't run smack into you 100% of the time under braking or while overtaking out of a draft, anymore... more like 10% of the time, which is perfectly fine.

They do appear a bit too timid in the corners when racing side by side, but then, except for getting rammed off in tricky braking zones or down the straights at Indy, I've never had issue with the AI. Drive in a similar car with similar limits and they always seemed to interact properly... pre-1.06, I even had a few races where two or three of us were trying to out-brake each other into a tight corner, and I had AI cars going off into the gravel!

This just means they have re-written the "script" for the A-spec races and licence tests. The AI coding itself hasn't really changed and from what I have seen in arcade mode, it's still pretty ordinary.

Worst of all, it still sounds like you're kicking a cardboard box every time you so much as brush another car 👎

The AI in the Daytona track on the Nascar series still ram you into the walls. That race still feels like a faster game of bumper cars.

Agreed. I lost the championship by 5 points because the AI spun me at Daytona. You can't recover from that with a stock (oil change, setup tweaks) car. I love this game, but the AI is about to force me to quit playing. It's completely inconsistent and has no regard for you on the race track. There's also some pretty ridiculous rubber banding or boosting going on as well. I was doing the All Star championship and was faster than the 2nd place car for the first 4 races (came in second twice due to mistakes on my part) and then on Tokyo he just takes off and leaves the entire field including me.

The most important thing is (and which didn´t change after the patch), that the AI is still slow and does some very early brake actions.

Especially in NASCAR championship they break with no reason to do so. Even if something has changed, it is nothing noticable to get an improved race action.

I only tested it briefly, the morning of the update before I went in to work. I was pleased. I stopped mid corner a few times and while I did get a couple bumps (to be expected) for the most part the AI went around. Once, when an AI car was on my tail when I stopped, rather than pushing through, he came to a stop, reversed, and went around. Wow.

Definitely improved, but definitely more conservative. For the better I suppose, I have AI drivers swerve out of the way or slam brakes on to avoid me. Players are never happy though, either too aggresive (holding their lines) or too timid (moving out of the way). As long as I recognize that the other drivers respond to my presence, it gives the illusion of racing against other drivers, which is good.

I've noticed this too, the Ai still has a problem with any sort of corner speed. Put the ai on a 125cc motorbike and it would get slaughtered.

I did Lambo cup lvl13 Bspec with a tuned SV and found out the AI is pretty good compared to v1.05. The AI was aggressive and blocked my bob on several occasions on the track.

Noticed today that when I blocked the road from a spin off, all the AI made attempts to drive around me and succeeded.
I was quite surprised because usually the AI would just go straight into me like a bulldoser

I think one change I've noticed is that the rubber banding is a lot tighter at least in some instances. Before where I might've stretched out a nice big lead, the AI seems to be able to stay within 4-5 secs no matter how hard I push it, provided the cars are reasonably competitive with each other. I still walked the field in Super GT at Suzuka though...

Good to hear all the positive things about the AI after the 1.06 update, I may give A-Spec mode another go now. I must say that I was impressed with the AI in Remote Race mode, I hadn't touched B-Spec at all up until the day before last when a mate asked me to make a driver so he could use it. I've now got 5 drivers & got 250,000 in credits just today from friends using them & when I did some races yesterday the races were watchable & entertaining. I still think PD's time would be better spent on making the racing more realistic, but as entertainment Remote Racing AI drivers is fun.

:)

Of course the B-Spec-races are exciting and entertaining......Bob is the same idiot like the AI ;)

The FGT definitely seems easier now, but haven't been able to decide if it's due to the new changes you can make to tuning the car, or the AI.

Psst... it's not rubberbanding. It's the AI falling asleep. Watch the replays and watch their mood meters.

I think the difference is that since the AI are more careful now and don't run each other off the road or play bumper cars, larger groups can form "wolf packs" and stay "hot" long enough to eat into your lead.

Previously, you'd get one "hot" rabbit, who'd try to chase you down all by his lonesome, and who'd go "cold" running all alone.

More entertainingly, the faster AI bunch up more than before, and some of them "push" too hard, leading to more spectacular "offs" than before.

Last night I did RX7 seasonal race, and a couple of AI cars in front of me lost it in the corners (which I don't recall seeing before). Also when I was overtaking they didn't seem to follow the racing line fanatically, but were actually quite sensible. So yes a definite improvement.

Hmmm. I guess it depends on the race series then. I run DCC exclusively both A-Spec and B-spec and there is always a rabbit. The Jaguar XJR-9. It kills the field except if its raining then its falls to mid pack after they change to rain tires. There is still a turtle too. Dun dun dunnnnn.....The RX-7 LM once again lol.

I do notice that they try to pass you if you block them but if you stay in the middle and just move over repeatedly to which ever side they are trying to pass they will just stay behind you. Also I noticed they still surrender if you bump them in the back or sniff there butts too closely even without touching them. They just slow down and let you pass.

BTW I get tired of seeing the same cars picked in every race. Which there was more variety as they do have a lot of race cars in the game. Never seen a Peugeot 908, C9, RCP90, or Virtigo in the 24 hours races or DCC. In DCC for example you will always get the Jaguar XJR9, Ford GT's, Nissan Z's, FTO, Citroen GT etc etc. How about BMW M4 GTR, Peugeot 908 HDI, Sauber C9 etc etc to spice it up. More variety in non specific race series would be nice PD.

The A.I is fine when you're commanding them but when you do a remote race, then it gets frustrating as some of my A.I back off way too much when they try to overtake an opponent and downright refuse to even overtake if they are faster.

I usually take lower grip tyres into A-Spec to make races more fair. I've noticed the AI sticks to my side now, when cornering. Whereas before, they usually used back off. Though on some corners, they aren't as brave on the exits. And I think they brake less harder, since I sometimes used to go flying into them, when tailing.

In B-Spec my LV 15 driver U.Hoover, just owned the competition in a stock R8 , at The Ring - Schwarzwald League B. No unnecessary braking during cornering, overtaking, or on the straights :boggled:. My Bobs never overtook on corners pre v1.06, well maybe on some occasions, but those were very rare.

So for me atleast no more 🤬 swearing at bob, or hoping that PD implements a "Slap Bob" button in a future update. B-Spec is suddenly less stressful :)
