Inability to sell car

I finally hit B-Spec level 40 and was able to complete the last endurance race. For my troubles I got a gift car ticket which I redeemed only to be given a red Formula Gran Turismo... like the one that I already have. No problem, I'll sell it and have the money... "you can not sell this car". OK, I'll give it to a friend then... the gift option for the car is greyed out.

Why am I unable to sell or give the car away? The only other options are 'remove the car from my garage' or just leave it in there to gather rust.

In hindsight, I should have backed up my save file before redeeming the ticket and then restored it after I was given this car.

Cars with a new value over 1m credits can't be gifted and cars with a new value over 500,000 credits can't be sold. The latter has been like that since the game came out, the former since v1.07.
