Burammm
This weekend I did the Indy 500 endurance, because I wanted to earn that cool classic Jag.
Expecting it to be a 200-lap borefest, I was surprised how addictive it was...

I used the 787b for it, and now I've grown really fond of the soothing, high pitched wankel-engine whirr :)
(Great car by the way. Never expected it to be *this* good)

Now that I'm building a nice collection of LeMans/endurance cars I can definitely see myself do this race a few more times to put them through their paces.

Anyone else really enjoying this particular race (ignoring the pathetic payola for it)?

The 787B is a dull car ... I don't get how people like the noise especially on Indy 500 ... TV would be on mute before the first lap was over. But if you enjoy the 787B and the Indy 500 then more power to yah :)

Yup, you 2 certainly are... But I m with you on the 787B! Though you should try it on another track before your final judgement! 👍

i felt a sleep twice on that race...

I've also felt asleep on that one even when doind several times that track on the American Championship to grind credits at some point it starts to put me to sleep.

cumps

I did this race 3 times to reach lvl 30. Ten laps in with the wheel it felt like 2 hrs, I actually did give up but decided to give the control a go.

Not much effort needed with the control, just sit back and relax

Ran it with the X2010, hoping to facilitate a faster race to just get it out the way. Not to mention trying to get used to the insane twitchy handling using a DS3.

Actually quite enjoyed it in doses, but started to find myself not remembering laps - as if a different part of my brain had taken over and was driving without my conscious brain doing anything.

Not really relaxing, per se, but I do agree it wasn't as boring as some may figure it would be.

Pretty insane having to pit 8 times for fuel in the 2010, mind.

Hey, I want to do this race in my Audi R10, and I was wondering would I be able to win it? Would the car be significantly slower than the leaders? Would have to pit less because it's a diesel... That's how I'm planning to win :D

Was just over two hours with an x1. After an hour was around 25 laps ahead, probably could rubberband the controller at that point and babysit for pit stops.

I love the endurance races in GT5. The only one I actually hate is the 9 Hours At Tsukuba. Did that once, will never do it again. I've done the Indy 500 five times so far. Only the last one was boring as I used the X2010 to see how long it would take. The other times it was pretty fun though. So far I'd have to say the 4 Hours At Nurburgring is probably my favorite endurance race this time.

Couldn't find a rubber band so I stole a hair bobble from my sisters room, around the R2 button and was steering with one hand while browsing with the other :D

I was using the FGT, the first while I took it dead serious, turning off hud and everything only to run out of fuel after corssing the start finish line! But I won by over 10 laps so its all good.

I'm looking forward to Indy. I love all the endurance races, actually. I need to get my Aspec lvl up (26 now) but I just started on A spec after first getting B spec to lvl 37 (and grinding).

You'll run out of tyres before you run out of fuel though. I never had to pit for fuel in the 787b, and that's a thirsty Wankel engine :)

I think you can win it, if you're significantly better driver than the AI and use soft tyres. In the final scoreboard the R10s finished at the bottom, so they're not the fastest of the bunch. But I think they run on hards, aren't tuned for top-speed and tend to brake too much for corners.

I am such a fail at conentrating...took me 5 hours of total time, pausing it then going to do some work in the garden or other stuff, but 2 and a half hours to do 200 laps in an X1
which is slower than my bob..so no I didn't enjoy it!

I did this on Friday night, FGT just to get it over with, took 2:40 ish with a few breaks. I started to fall asleep around lap 80. By 160 I had crashed twice from zoning out. By this time the wife had gone to bed, so I grabbed my mp3 player and cranked tunes, the next 40 laps flew by and I really enjoyed myself. I only did it for the Jag, but I might do it again in a more/less competitive car.

I found it really dull, although it has to be said, I raced it in an overspec car, so I only have myself to blame for a boring race.

Music really helps, indeed.

And that XJ13 is pretty sweet. The historic cup would have been a lot more interesting/less frustrating if I would have had it back then!

B-spec bobs have done it several times. I haven't done it yet though. I'll probably do it this weekend just to have a legitimate XJ13.

I really enjoyed this race too. It reminded me of the Super Speedway 100-lap endurance race on GT4, which I ran many times.
Only problem is how deformed your car gets by the end of it (well for me anyway) which is quite sad to see if it's a car you really like...

I can't think of anything more boring than running a 200 hundred lap oval track without competition. Might as well watch paint dry.

No competition? That's up to yourself. The LM and group C cars in this race put up a mean fight unless you bring an FGT or X1...
