INDY 500 Endurance Race

Well i've Grinded my way up to Level 28 so time to do another Endurance Race I suppose

Those in the Cheap Seats If you Have it YES you can Use the Minolta Toyota Car

Me I choose the Audi R10 TDI 06 Race Car (i've got the Choice of that or the 908 all that Grinding eh)

So its a 200 Lap 500 Mile Race , Figure on having at least Two and a Half Hours of Free Time you'll need it

Before the Race I bought the AUDI R10 did the Oil Change Added a Stage 2 and Stage 3 Turbo Upgrade and bought Soft Race Tyres

The Race itself is very easy you just turn Left 4 times a Lap for 200 Laps , simple huh .

So for the first Stint I used Soft Race Tyres by lap 22 with a Comfortable Lead the Cars Handling started to go off as the Tyres Wore , Understeer was the Main Problem up until then I hadn't used the Brake Pedal once now I needed to . By Lap 24 things were now a bit dodgy and my lap times had Dropped from consistent 42.400 into the 43's and getting worse . by lap 26 I ws in the High 44's time to Pit .

At this point I thought i'll try Hard Race Tyres , doing the Maths I figured on 8 PIT STOPS...!!!!! Yes 8 of the things.

So I pitted lost 1 Min and 40 secs in the Pits and my next lap was a 1.01 adding on pit Exiting and I just Managed to be under 2 seconds ahead of the 2nd place car...close call .

Pit Road Exit back onto the track is something to be wary of , your coming out onto the Straight and the Bots are doing well over 200mph so look right eh or it'll get messy .

23 Laps Later I was back on the Pits the Hard Race Tyres where Knackered ....Uh oh , so now i've got 6 Pit Stops still to do

Once again I Fitted Soft Race Tyres , this time they didn't seem to struggle so badly as the laps wore on maybe that comment somewhere about the Track rubbering up in the Game was true .

This went on for a while I pitted every 27 Laps jiust to be safe my lead increased the Bots Pitted between 38-44 Laps , so the usual they can go longer than you can on the same tryes situation , oh well I was ahead easily at the time so not to worry

At Lap 160 I shortpitted figuruing i'd still need to have 2 Pit stops and why not use the tyres for only 20 laps and pick up less Fuel aswell to save time . Erm I saved a whole 7 Seconds so not a lot actually

Lap 180 as I enterd the Pits I chose to take on Only 10 Ltr's of Fuel as the Tank was at the halfway Point , better than running out of fuel I Suppose . Thats better this time I save 18 Seconds came out with a 7 Lap Lead and finished the Race Seven and Three Quarter Laps ahead .

Total Race time was 2.28.52.544

7 laps an a bit Ahead roughly equals 6 mins and say 15 seconds from a almost 2 Hours and 30 Mins Race thats not a lot so the Upgrades where needed

Prize Money 225,.000cr :grumpy:

XP 268176 so quite a lot actually 👍

Car Mileage at race Start 0.0 Miles

Car Mileage at Race Finish 546.6 Miles ??? :dunce:

But its a 500 Mile Race...!!!?? hmm i must be crappier at driving than I thought

Changed the Oil in the Car after the Race its now at 806BHP so I guess its run in and i'm halfway to Level 29 allready

One other thing the Bots drive like Idiots and will Swerve onto your line , there even worse on corners 👎

you know that for turbo upgrades you don't need to buy stage 1 and 2 just to get stage 3 right? you can buy whatever stage you want.

I was hoping he just made a typo about that! Ha. Wasting some money if it wasn't a typo!

D'oh told ya I was thick :dunce:

:lol::lol: I didn't know about the Turbo thing :grumpy:

All the A1 Drivers are in LMP Cars and they do the usual Brake for the Corners stunt , god knows why though theres really no need too

I'm guessing this is as a result of using the racing line. I could be wrong.

I noticed different turbos are for different rpm ranges. Low, medium, high so wouldn't it still make sense to have them and switch them out depending on the track?

Maybe something about them getting approx 40 laps per trye set and you got under 30 !

Good write up. Having been involved in with the last 10 500's 8 pit stops is very accurate. Just not every 22-27 laps. The 2 in half hour mark is very quick but then again you don't have to deal with cautions either.

What kind of cars are you racing against? I'm hoping it is all FGT's and not a mix of cars.

There all LMP Le Mans types , no 908's but I suppose if anyone uses a 908 the bots will aswell

I have done the race twice, both times in the 908 and no AI has used one yet. I love this race for experience grinding.

In real life, I work on cars. The way a turbo works is that it forces air through the intake manifold into the piston. A non turbo'd engine isn't very capable of increasing air volume through the pistons because atmospheric pressure won't allow it. The only air it can pull in on it's own is during the downward stroke of the piston (in case you don't know, the combination of fuel, air, and spark is what creates hp, and it's a very careful balance of the three that create a maximum amount of power).
With the turbo literally forcing air into the intake manifold and into each cylinder, it can overcome that atmospheric barrier of air pressure by a few psi. The turbo on my last engine I built created 18psi at full boost, around 5800rpms.
Here is the next dilemma, the bigger a turbo is and the more psi it can generate inside of the intake manifold, the more time it takes to spool up and create that psi. A turbo designed to create 4-8 psi can spool relatively quickly, thus creating power more efficiently at lower rpms (stage 1 turbo). A little bigger, more psi...better midrange power, usually around 10-18 psi. Really big turbos, 20+psi, need more time, thus are more efficient at higher rpms.
Sorry for the rant, I hope someone learned something.
