Not that I want to appear nerdish or fan-nish of Initial D or anything...

but why not put Itsuki's car in? AE85 rocks! Maybe a Sprinter Trueno with bad oil and economy tires would count.

I thought I read somewhere that Takumi's Trueno was the normal one when he was younger, and the S.S. one when he became part of Project D. Also, I think Bunta's car is a wrx coupe R (V or VI, i forget). Oh and to select the bunta car in the arcade game (version III) you highlight subaru and do this with the gearshift: upshift, upshift, upshift, upshift, upshift, upshift, downshift, downshift. Then you hold down the brake pedal and press viewchange. Does anybody still play that arcade game? It costs 50 cents to play in UCLA. I stopped when GT4 came out.

"Akagi RedSuns"
Ryosuke -- SAVANNA RX-7 INFINI III (FC)
Keisuke -- RX-7 efini Type R (FD)
Kenta -- SILVIA Q's AERO (S14) (make sure it's the one with the round headlights, not the sharp, angry ones)

I've only seen the anime but: didn't Takumi get the carbon hooded look a good while after he'd blown the engine? Or do you mean power-wise the S.S. matches with the new engine they intalled?

The Tokyo pair and LanEvo duo appear in at least the anime in addition to the games.

If I remember correctly, the carbon fiber hood and engine went hand-in-hand, as far as the Manga is concerned. Otherwise they still match engine-to-engine, as you said. :)

Ah, ok. I haven't seen 4th stage yet; I'm waiting to just watch a HK DVD of the whole season after it's done.

To my recollection, Takumi got the carbon hood in time for his races with the Hondas from the racing school (Todou Juku or something like that?). I think he still had a normal bonnet in place during his races with the Miata and the ER34 Skyline.

Sadly, the Altezza and Subaru IMPREZA WRX type R STi version V (GC8) don't seem to be available in my NA game. :nervous:

About the LanEvo VI RS, is it the normal one of the T.M.E. version?

The Evo VI is a TME in the anime.

I've been trying to tune and set up cars from Initial D. Anyone interested in some settings?

Hmm, you're right...looks like GT4 only has the version VI type R...as if that matters...

And VQuick is right, the VI is actually a T.M.E. Not only that, but a GSR as well (I assumed it was an RS because it has no spoiler). The Evo V is an RS.

Takumi's hachiroku after the engine blow had a fully tuned 4A-G engine, with rev limit at 11000rpm. SS version in GT4 is a multi-throttle body tuning - can't remember if it had strengthened internals. Similar in characteristic, but a different cattle of fish, I would imagine.

That would be a race tuned 20V? The 20Vs have individual throttle bodies... but having seen engine pics of the engine in the car afer the swap, it's still a 4AGE... ??? oh, well... it'd be nice to have a car like that IRL.

The engine that was swapped into Takumi's Trueno after blowing the original engine was a race-tuned 4AGE normally used in Toyota Formula Atlantic cars.

Somehow Bunta's Coupe shows up in my GT4 (PAL-Europe, Germany) as a Ver.5 and not a Ver. 6.....is this a difference between PAL and NTCS ?

Well, Bat22 didn't look nearly hard enough, and I probably just don't have the Ver. 5 yet...the car list here at GT-Planet doesn't show pictures anymore, so I had to go by what I have in my GT4 game.

Hey! :grumpy: I gave it some time. I came across the Impreza coupe ver. 6 a number of times but no ver. 5 -- and I've NEVER seen an Altezza in the Toyota sales room or used vehicle lots.

It got me thinking and I checked the two separate car lists here on gtplanet and, lo and behold, the Altezza types are severely cut down and there is no such Impreza on the N.A. list.

That's one nice motor. I know a whole bunch of guys here who would sell their grandmother to get that into their 70's Corollas.

@Bat22, isn't the IS200(J) just that? The Altezza? Because I thought they only sold the 160hp version in the US. Having three Altezza/IS's in the game doesn't seem 'severely cut' to me.

I was reading the volume with the MX5/R34 the other day, Takumi definately has a standard hood and pop-up light thingies in it.

Lexus also sold a 215HP IS300 in the US.

Here's some others you forgot from Extra Stage.

Night Kids
Miyahara - Toyota SW20 MR2

Emperor
Satake - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV

whew. All this Initial D talk. The live-action movie just opened up here (Japan) yesterday. I should go see it right away, if the wife will let me.
