Anyway to answer your question, it depends on the disc you're buying, not your PSN account. If you bought the japanese disc yes you can play online. But if you bought the asian version there's no online mode...

I thought I explained that quite clearly. Oh well, here's a more detailed explanation...

There's two versions of Initial D Extreme Stage: Japanese & Asian.

The Japanese version has japanese manuals, japanese menus (in-game) and online play (called network mode or something). Even if you use a non-japanese PSN account you can still play online.

The Asian version has english manuals, japanese menus (in-game) but no online play whatsoever. You're stuck with only story mode and time attack mode (no worldwide time attack rankings either, just your own rankings). Even if you use a japanese PSN account you still can't play online.

Hope that explains any confusion 👍.

Just out of curiosity, is this the same game as the Arcade version? And also the same one that was released on ps2? My friend had a chipped PS2 and i played through the initial D (watched all the anime so i knew the story line) but i couldn't understand a thing! Luckily i knew by my friends trial and error what option was yes and no :dunce:

LeGend, all I meant was that japan is part of asia, or atleast in my map.

Well you're right. Geographically Japan is part of Asia. But for PS3 games japan and asia are two different regions. Confusing, I know, but that's how Sony decides to put it. If you want more proof that japan and asia are different regions, copy the gamesave of each game to a USB drive, the japan gamesave file will start with BLJSxxxxx while the asian gamesave file will start with BLASxxxxx (xxxxx are numbers). They are not the same.

Extreme Stage is the same as Arcade Stage 4. It's completely different from the PS2 version. Well the core story mode is still the same, tracks and cars are pretty much the same, but the driving physics are completely different from what I heard (never played PS2 version myself). So if you aren't sure I suggest renting it first because a lot of PS2 Initial D fans are disappointed by the driving physics in Extreme Stage. I personally love it 👍. Gives you a nice break after playing GT5P/FC/F1CE :).

Well from the Ebay advert it seems like I have the Asia version as it say Manuel comes in English. Thx for all your answers though guys.
