Initial D Special Stage Cool!!!

I already have those games, and they all work on my PS2, but Drift Champ won't work, and I really want to play it cuz I heard it was really good

Is it a backup? Maybe corrupted or a bad burn...Maybe try some of that CD\DVD Laser Cleaning stuff? Also look underneath the Drift Champ cd at about a 30degree angle in a lighted area for scratches.

k..u want good drift games..for ps2

kaido battle [drift racer: kaido battle wen it comes out 2004 in U.S]

****okou battle R..or sumthin like that

tokyo xtreme racer

touge R

initial d special stage [actually after watching videos of people playing this i notice that u actually drift [powerslide] more than in the arcade]...
thats because they changed the handling and they balanced out the cars...so the DC2 isnt the fastest car in the game anymore

The game is tons of fun, and you can figure out what is going on, especially if you have already watched the Japanese episodes of ID I love playing it, but it does get difficult after you get to certain points

This game is really good but I reckon it could have been better if you could play against a mate using your tuned up cars then it would be second only 2 GT as my fav racer (or maybe third due to F1 2003) :D

The MR2 In Initial D is not crap ...it's only crap if You do not know how to handle the all that slipping in the rear wheels....since it redlines early...

by the way..i use the MR 2 on Initial D and i have gotten far...i've already beaten..Takumi Fujiwara on Akina Downhill and i have beaten T.K. with skills

like i said, you'll have to be good in controlling your car :trouble:

well i you'll never see me here again.... i just wanted to point it out

for me initial d games ( arcades or ps2 ) botx sux the games not reall xspecially corners ez to take ... for me the best drift game in ps2 is kaido battle look lkike real compare to idss ... what ever u think about thats games i said yekkkkk disapointment ...

You can't boot Japenese original games with an American unmodded console, yes they're both NTSC, but they are different forms of NTSC (China, I'm not sure what form that is.). However you can burn the original Japanese game to DVD-R and then boot that in any region PS2 using an appropriate swap-trick with an Action Replay / Gameshark (new version don't work). The reason the backup will work and the original won't is because the backup has no protetion on it at all, and under the right swapping circumstances it will boot, however the original still has region protection and this is read and the game will not boot.

Your best solution if you do not want to get a modchip is to wait until Swap Magic 3.0 is released and get that with the DVD bootup disc and the DVD-RIP over 80min discs and make your own swap tool.

Here's a quick summary of some stuff you should know about the swap if you do have an old Action Replay / Gameshark.

1) The disc is about 71mins long and you cannot play dvd-rip games 100% correctly if they are bigger than this amount, the reason being, the PS2 laser won't seek beyond 71mins.
2) The Swap Magic 3.0 disc is supposed to overcome the above problem.
3) You cannot boot DVD backups using the swap-method without an original DVD game. If you want to boot a 2gb DVD backup you will need at least a 2gb original DVD game as well as the Action Replay / Gameshark.
4) Swap Magic has a DVD and a CD disc to boot DVD games (so you don't need an original) and the CD will not play games properly above 71mins, some will not even load up. Again Swap Magic 3.0 is meant to be the definite solution.
5) If you do a swap method you can get a flip case for your PS2 which makes it a bit like a Gamecube (the way you load games) although altogether this costs more than buying a modchip. Or you can take the front of the tray off your PS2, the thing with the Playstation logo and make a swap tool which can move the white cog where the tray is.

Important: New model PS2s referred to as V7 have double protection, you cannot play ALL games such as Tomb Raider and Splinter Cell using a swap method properly if you have a backup from an original version of these games (there are more too) without getting a protection removal patch, Swap Magic 3 is meant to get around this too. So as you have it, unless you have an Action Replay / Gameshark disc and PS2 which is around a year old or more, the chances of you playing a legit version of this game on an unmodded PS2 is slim.

Similarly, backing up your game is illegal, getting your ps2 chipped is illegal, ripping a game to cd or modifying in anyway is illegal etc.

All the information presented above is entirely legal in the form that it is and should be taken as guidence only, any mods if you feel something doesn't comply with forum rules etc please edit it as appropriate.

Backing up your game is NOT illegal, just like me having an NES emulator and the games I physically own on my harddrive isn't illegal. If you own the original copy, you can reproduce it as many times you want, so long as you don't try to make a profit off of them.

I don't know about the PS2 chipping, but I'm pretty sure it's not illegal either, since you own the system, and you're just modifying it. That'd be like saying my painted PS2 is illegal, since it's modified, and I'm 100% sure that isn't illegal (Stupid to void my warranty, yes, but not illegal).

Actually if you read the games instructions manual you DO NOT OWN the game, it is liscensed to you. Any unauthorized reading in a PC etc is illegal.

Also while I agree modding your PS2 is up to you, Sony have won soo many court battles now that most people just accept it's illegal but do it anyway, so many modchip selling websites have been shutdown, just look at what happened to lik-sang, they had to remove all mods and backup tools.

Actually, it says nothing like that in any of the game manuals I own. That would be like saying making a backup copy of a program for your computer in case something happened to your computer is illegal, it's just not true. Sony can't do anything about it, because you're making a backup of a piece of software that you own for your personal use. Any other use is illegal, yes, but not if you want to use it for yourself, and you own the original.

Ok not every game says that but they do all say no unauthorized copying allowed, and a backup is unauthorized copying. But you cannot truely own the software because you are not the original copyright owner. While we may see it as legal because it is for personal use, the courts and judges don't, mainly because of Sony's very expensive lawyers, but that's they way it is. Also your backup is a modified version of the game, i.e. it doesn't carry the original protections or it would boot in an unmodded PS2 etc.

While I agree it's stupid, it's unlikely that you will ever be prosecuted for this although under sony's eyes it's illegal, just in the same respect that the PS2 is not a games console, but a "computer entertainment system".

Anyway good luck getting your IDSS to boot people who ordered it as import :)

Hey, im back..

can anyone give me full details how to boot the burned IDS?
u can e-mail me if u want princevegeta41@hotmail.com
or u can just post it here make subject noticable sumthing like INITIAL D DETAILS or sumthing but i really need help to get this booted up plz u can just post it here if u want i need to know how to boot it up with full details.

You sort of drift automatically around hairpins.
From what i've heard, the game is based around the Manga, which doesn't have the same emphasis on drifting. The Anime was kinda unrealistic when it came to car physics.

Also if you are using a civic in the game, I doubt you can do big drifts anyway.
