Whats up. Who loves the 86 S.S. version on GT3 and uses it?

Well i actually tuned my car to eat the grass patches to save on time and beat my friend. Its great because it doesnt slow down either and i beat my friend who was using a Denso Sard Supra on midfield. the trueno i tuned had a grip like style to it and when the gas is pressed too long on 2nd gear it starts to spin out? Why is that?

If you want an answer: start a new thread, dont try and change the subject on one already started please. Also driving is done on tarmac not cutting corners through grass

well...

I learned about the whole concept of drifting more or less when i stumbled on the PS1 racing game Rage racer, it was one of those games I kept looking at (in addtion to the entire Ridge Racer serries for the mater...), when I saw Gran Turmismo, again somewhere in the manual (forgot if it was 1 or 2, maybe both...) mentioned about it.

Then there are the many WRC races and also Sega rally where I ofthen sent a car sideways thru a turn, back to Ridge Racer, specefilcy Ridge Racer type 4, I stared to learn just the difference was from a perfect drift and just another powerslide (as staring to skid well before the turn allwed a faster overall speed thru it than if I started sliding after or at the exit...). I did it here and there in the various GT games but ofthen just stuck to grip driving, hell at some point I prob did do good drifing but found in races where tire wear counted, it wore out my tires at a faster rate than I wanted, so I just stuck to grip driving.

Sometime in 1999/2000 I stumbled on a fan-music video decicated to Initial D playing Crash by Methods of Mayhem (a song used for the various trailers from Driven and also found it's way into the GT3 soundtrack) and I saw a little of what was one of the best Animes I would see. Between then and now I took drifting on a more searous basis.

Knowing what I do of cars (I've been a car freak since maybe 5 or younger, so I know cars not just for the fact of knwoing how to drift them if the situation calls for it...), from books, TV shows, and games as well (I learned that traction control is not always your friend but sometimes your enemy...in GT2 I realized that 4WD cars CAN spin out...it never hapined in GT1...or at least to me...and the illustration of the term 'turbo lag' that many people in car magzines talked about so ofthen never understood it completely till I saw GT1 with a car equiped with a Stage 4 turbo and it all made sense...), I'm lately just learning how to get better and better with drifting in GT3. Initial D more or less had sealed my intrest since I'm both a car and Anime fan and Initial D delivers in more ways than I would expect.

Initial D is one of those rare combiantions that didn't always work or at least in a sense that really applied to a car freak. It's not the most real of anime but hell, it's an ANIME, or a Japenese cartoon, Cartoons are prone to always having that unreality factor more of then than not unless I missed a page.

At the same time it's closer to reality than one may figure, nealry all of what has been suggested of how to improve your driving and such (inculding when Bunta changed the suspension settings for the R32 battle for heavy understeering, and when Takumi learned how to not steer as much thanks to the guntape deathmatch against Shingo...) is more or less true to a degree, it's just that most of it is usually reserved for those who know just what in the hell they are doing 99% of the time they drive down the mountain becuase 1 mistake usually does mean death or worse depending on just where you're at.

My only remote gripe with Initial D is the lack of appearnce of American and European machines but hell, it was intended for the Japenese as far as I can figure and plus I'm sure somone would gripe if some skilled American or European racer appeared with -enter car name here- regardless of what it is and say whatever about it or the driver. I could put examples but I would lose the point. If noting else, it's Initial D, not Gran Turismo even though I may sometimes look at Initial D as Gran Turismo with a storyline attached somehow.

I should mention how before I really got Into Inital D, oddly enough (just how I view it sometimes...) enough me and my bro when we started (GT3) had gotten the Trueno 86, just becuase it was cheap (it was our 1st car so of cousre we didn't have much of a choice and later stumbled on the Shigeno 86. It didn't hit me till maybe a few months ago (even with all that watching of Initial D, I knew it was an 86...) that the Shigeno 86 was THE 86 more or less from Initail D, I mean hell, where else can you get those wheel rim designs on it? That and how it's the Shigeno version, Shigeno being the one behind Inital D.

-sigh-need to try and learn how to make posts smaller... anywho, I've had many insprations to drift, Initial D by some chance was one of the final pushes to show a real intrest that would last, if it wasn't that then prob the next Ridge Racer game to come out...

Guess that's about all I can say...till later...

Summer of 1998, hot outside! so i chilling in a local video game store with friends. the boss was reading something very interesting unlike anything, didn't even borther to hello at us. it was the Initial-D comic book Vol.6 that he was reading.

fall in love with Initial-D since then.

got convinced by the boss and purchased DreamCast+TokyoXtremeRacer(Japanese version) from him, started drifting......

I got into drifting when Driftworks came out, then driftworkds 2 and 3. But I never heard of Intial D sometime last year. Then I seen a GT3 drift guide, Then I started to drift in GT3. Now I realized that Cudaman, I thinks that him that made the drift guide. Yesterday

Yea maybe it was Initial D, maybe it was the Stupid Understeer I experienced when I first played GT3 that lead to me pulling the e-brake, Possibly my several time attack runs at go cart world, or was it my RC car, always flat spotting all my damn tyres........ Oh well, im gonna say a combination of the stuff........... Yea my first RC car my Tom's Castrol Supra TL-01, that was fun...... Two years ago when i was twelve, Now I have a HPI Rally and a MR4TC Drift Car with Rayspeed carbon parts. Hmmmmm...... Yea good times good times....... Yea I have to say I've been driftin my whole life, and it began with my Supra...... Oh yea, watch out TOUGE KING will be born on the arrival of GT4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Initial D Arcade Stage:

P.S. DriftWorks music rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MONKEY D POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Initial D inspired me to drift even better in the real world and made me love and appreciate the AE86 even more but Gran Dorifto inspired me to drift GT3.

When I first watched Initial D, I didn't think much of it...the video quality of my first, ugh, download, was pretty poor. I've heard of drifting before I heard of Initial D, but that was on online message boards and what not. Then, one day, while sifting through the gamefaqs boards, I happened upon driftworks2.wmv. Since then, I've been sliding my cars or trying to in any racing game I could...for the past 2 years now. It wasn't until yesterday that I got my hands on the Drinving Force Pro from work (I work at Gamestop, and there was one that was 'defective' in the store room). My experience has been eye-opening to say the least, but, its a work in progress.

I only started watching Initial D this year...got all the way up to Stage 4 ep 4...

i got into ID after i got into drifting.

i never really knew what drifting was or how to do it at first...i just slide the ass of my car out. sooner or later i wondered if there was something already like it, so i looked it up and then i discovered it to be drifting.

heh.

After watching Initial D my brother decided to buy himself a Japanese car and chose a Skyline. Now we go and tackle a little mountain pass in Melbourne called the Yarra Bend but we call it Mt. Akina. When I have enough money I'll try to get my hands on a red EG6 like Shingo's.

ehhh ever since i was little i was in to cars but i was in to japanese cars cuz i am part japanese and part spanish(weird mix).i wasent born there but i knew what i liked, drifting has bein around for a long ass time so i was hook as soon as i saw that style in a race, i started to learn more about it.then i started playing gt2 i never even though of drifting in that game.but when gt3 came out i sarted to do some power slides and then i would laugh and call it drifting.but then i started to get good and started to tune my car for it too.but it was only for fun i wasent realy serius about it.but one day since i have bein a super street addict i saw initial D coming to U.S.A.i was interested but i wasent like omg omg omg i have to fly to japan and buy all the videos and all the toys they make lol.but any way i was in tha mall with my girl freind and two of my very good freinds we walk in the store FYI and i saw in a little corner a couple of ID dvds and books.of couse i played the jew and bought tha book lol.i droped off my girl then went to a freinds house cuz there was a party i passed out and i lost the book i was so pissed.so the next day i went home i went on th infamous kazaa and seached initia D and down loaded a episode.after seeing one i was hooked becuase of how every episode leaves u hanging like tha end or begining of a race.well it 4:43am im half drunk and i have a head ack im going to sleep.

Wow old threads keep poping up now. I think people are finally getting idea of why the search button is there

I agree bud. It's very nice to see.

no, the anime series i think

myself, i've been drifting in GT for better than a year and a half, probably close to 2 years.
I found out about Initial D in a IRC anime channel (AnimeWired, see my sig for a link to our site - my creation), that i joined November 2003. I love initial D, I've burned stages 1-3 to DVD, and have stage 4 eps 1-8 LE&IDE releases stored away on my HD, waiting for the next 2 eps to be subbed late Jan or early Feb.

this stage is really bothering me, not the story line, but having to wait 2 months in between releases b/c its being released slowly, 2 eps at a time in Japan. :grumpy:

anyways, i'm getting off-topic
i guess the answer is no, Initial D didnt get me into drifting. But it did give me some insight into why the Shigeno Trueno made it into the game. That's about it

On the other hand for me. Initial D did get me into drifting. As in my mind at the time, Grip racing was the only way to drive. Initial D was only the grabber, before I started researching about this sport.

--Off topics-
by the way. Nice work on your site. The intro was very interesting .I'm currently trying to build mine.

Interest in drifting = accident.

Playing GT2 with a friend, started doing controlled powerslides in my Stingray. Later found out this was called "drifting", after seeing Initial D and locating the Gran Dorifto videos.

👍

I got my interest in drifting from rally racing and driving on gravel. I was tossing a Tercel sideways long before I knew what Initial D was. WRC is what got me into racing. Initial D brought me interest over to paved, solid surfaces :D

Now I autocross and what not, pavement is way more fun than I thought at first.

Stage 4 has killer music.. and I want it...

Azuremen
Now I just need to get it... anyone know were? Am I allowed to even ask that?

http://www.live-evil.org/

go there, you'll need a bittorrent client (I recommend BitComet, personally, Azureus is decent also)
they have torrents for the first 10 eps, and do a very good job of subbing.
hrm, looks like they snuck 9 and 10 out while i wasnt looking. Im gonna grab them also, while im at it.

and yes you can ask, it isnt licensed yet (to my knowledge) so possessing them is legal

you can check at AnimeSuki if you want it subbed by another group

:sly:

AE86Driver
well...considering the fact it's not licensed here,I hope this is appropriate to say,but seeing as I have already sent a Private Message to two users about this matter,I just figured I'd post it up here and people could message me if they wanted it,but anyways. If you wish to have the Initial D: Fourth Stage Selection Soundtrack, please send me a Private Message through here,or send me an IM on AIM and I will send you the bittorrent file and you can just double click and begin downloading from me ^.^. I will seed it for a couple of days, for all those people that want it =D. If you are curious,I also have two seprate songs that are not on the soundtrack, that played in episodes 7 and 8,but nothing new past that yet,soooo...send your messages away guys and start your engines XD!

Whoa there buddy... Did you not just read my post?... This type of thing has been under scrutiny for quite some time (in the Moderators Forum)... Don't push it... Whether they are licensed here makes no difference... They are songs (and shows) created by an artist (or writer/director/producer) and they have the rights to their work (and the right to be paid for it)... You can do what you like (outside of GTP), but it is against the AUP to post such information here...

Use the PM system...

;)

Well, The first time i EVER heard of drifting was i think either Ridge Racer :dopey: ...

or

Well, i remeber... i think the mid 90's maybe... being really interested in Le Mans racing, where i discovered Keiichi, and he had the weird nickname (Drift King)
So, i did some research into that.

later on, my brother introduced me to watching initial d.
I didnt really start trying to drift in games untill right before gt2 came out though (NOT COUNTING RIDGE RACER!!). Do you guys remember how cool gt2 was? I remember thinking the graphics for that game were awsome, even though i was a PC gamer also :dunce:
