I fear I'm going to be severely outclassed here, but I'll have a shot anyway - some are unedited, but I've pulled out photoshop for the new images.

Thats has to be the most humble start of a gallery I've ever read. Don't worry, It's art. And it's all good. Thanks for the pics. Now that being said...You're first pic...Blaah. I didn't like it. You're third pic, you need to get the whole car in the shot. The back end. It would give the picture balance and flow. The second Pic , I like. I think you could work with that one. The contrast between light and dark, the reflections on the front fender, the angle, and even the lines on the road gives you a good template to work with. Clean the lines.( Round ) Blur the rim as if in motion. ( Not easy, but not Too hard ) And sometimes cropping the picture gives it a new look. All up to you bud, It's art. Just keep on, and have fun!

The second one didn't turn out very well for some reason... not sure why. Unedited once again just btw

the first shot is actually perfect in my view. don't be so hard on yourself though. there's always gotta be a starting point. just keep pushing, and open that photoshop program every once in a while. we have lots of tutorials here, that even i dig around lots of times, right from when i started with gimp, and now that i have photoshop i still look for them. definitely lots to learn. you should look them up. first place to visit is the photoshop tutorials sticky in the photomode thread. hope to see more from you.

I think you need to increase the shutter speed I think and either raise or lower the aperture to get more focus on the car. The first shot's epic though.

in.s@ne, you've got an excellent gallery here with some great pictures 👍 Keep up the good work :)

Best wishes,

Nice start man. I like the last two pictures of the first set, with the little Vauxhall, being my favourite. Tat and the Audi, are very sharply detaild for unedited shots, which is a talent all in itself. 👍

The first Zonda shot is also very sharp. There are no jaggies that I can see, and the out of focus background brings out the car very nicely. 👍

Great start man, don't be too hard on yourself, Photoshop isn't necessary, but it can be handy. I'm sure that If you follow the tutorials like jgda9rs has said, you will start posting better and better pictures - keep 'em coming! 👍

As CamryFan said, its to do with shutter speed, but also how close you are to the car.

From where you are standing, you would need a very high shutter speed to counter the speed blur, which would also ruin the sense of speed and action you were trying to present. An easy fix is to stand as far back as possible, and then zoom in. Why?

When an object crosses the lens, depending on its distance from the lens, it will travel either faster or slower. If you are close (like in your shot), it will travel faster needing a higher shutter speed to counter the effects of speed blur. On the other hand, if you are further away, the object will travel slower across the lens, and thus needing a slower shutter speed.

Try experimenting with standing further away (and zooming in), and using different shutter speeds. I generally never go any higher than 1/250, and try each increment up to that shutter speed. If I can't get a clean shot within that shutter speed range, I step further back and repeat the process until I find a shot I am happy with. I hope this helps a little. 👍

OK so I pulled out the old tutorials and the Photoshop stick, did a bit of cleaning up etc with my favourite Zonda picture - let me know what you think.

in.s@ne, I like this picture very much, the brightness is just perfect 👍 Keep up the good work :)..

well, you could use the smudge tool to help round off the straight sharp edges, you could try removing the watermark off the image before you try blurring.
I havn't even tried blurring because I'm so bad - so don't think I'm trying to upstage you or anything:)👍

oh sorry about that. well, you need to further analyse the angle and the perspective of the photo and its elements, like where the car is actually pointing, the way the road and the background are coordinating with each other, and how they are formed. because all of this will determine the type of blur to be used and the location of the vanishing point, in order for the motion blur to be in perspective, and have a proper looking result. some shots could do away without motion or zoom blur, like the first one. it would've been better to just apply a small focal blur to the background and then added some noise to the road surface to make it stand out. the 2nd one you didn't do too bad, though you should have got rid of the watermark first, then added some noise to the background before applying the zoom blur, so it stands out. you should have a look at bram turismo's guide, then maybe zip by LdS' gallery, and have a look at the tutorial he posted. then things would make more sense. goodluck on your next learning experience, i'm sure you can do it. i actually think you got off to a good start. not bad at all. i look forward to see further improvements from here on. i'll be watching you from now on.

after the exams, I'm gonna get serious with GIMP...so a heads up jgda9rs, I might call on your feedback aswell

Thanks for the feedback guys. I see what you mean jgda9rs - the car coming out out the angle that it is does not really fit a straight out blur... seems so simple when someone points it out, but it's this sort-of thing you need.

I'll keep it in mind for my next photos :)

 Wow, I can't find words to describe how good your latest update is.. I'm really impressed.. The car looks just awesome! 👍 Well done, in.s@ne :) As I already said: Your updates get better and better ;)

Best wishes,

[shameless plug] Good to see the N-Tune Jaguar XJ-R out and about putting factory efforts to shame on the track know only as Green Hell [/shameless plug].

I actually agree that the framing could be better and the motion blur on the first photo is overdone, especially the bottom half.

Good work, now let's see some expanded VX220 Turbo shots.

Mhh.. I like the picture.. The car looks very clean and the blurred background is nice, too 👍 Well done..

Heh, cool car/track combo. I remember one of the earliest PMC winners was of a yellow Midget in the snow (looked like piss )

Had a blast around Motegi in this lightweight monster, shame the traction control still wouldn't go away even after i turned it off though!
