Installing a game: Directx8 on Directx10

I am installing a old game on my pc, my pc has Directx10 on it.

The setup wants to install "Directx8 files". Is it really needed, does it not hurt my Directx10?

I would think that the DX installer would stop once it sees a newer version installed, but I'd just skip it if you can and see if it runs.

Never had that scenario before.

I think you can have both without trouble. If I recall correctly I have directx 9.0 and 11.0 installed on my pc without any problem.

You can't downgrade the DirectX version, so installing older version of DirectX only overwrites existing files or adds more files if needed. It shouldn't affect your latest DirectX.

I just installed the DX-files, it seems i have no problems when i need a higher DX. So i guess it will be fine, thanks.
