So I just now got everything set up, including the new TV. Same result. Screen goes out after a couple minutes.

Looks like I'll be getting a new power supply.

Good luck with that ;)
Could be the PSU, you never know until you try.
Post how it went !

I think its a GPU problem. Try returning the PSU. 600 W is more than enough for the 6870.

Do you have an integrated GPU? Try that first by removing the 6870. Next, try finding a graphics card or taking one out of another PC. take it somewhere and ask to borrow one. You don't want to spend money again. You've already spent alot on a PSU (wow.. 170 bucks on a 700W PSU? I would've gone for about $90 with an Antec one, probably certified Silver or Bronze) Then try seeing if there is a warranty on your GPU. Send it in. Try to minmise costs.

As for the root of hte issue, one simply cannot think of anytihng else that might be the problem.

Was it pre-built? Did the company you bought it from overclock it for you? Try going into ATi Catalyst Control Centre -> Ati Overdrive and reset it to it's default clock settings. It does sound like the same problem I had with my amateur attempt to overclock my GPU

As you have eliminated the PSU we know it is highly likely to be the GPU itself; just make sure you check what I said first and try to play the game again before you take steps to return the presumably faulty graphics card.

If everything is default then ignore this post 👍 It is worth double checking. Sometimes the simplest solutions are overlooked.

If it is a GPU problem, you can easy find out, by running a high load benchmark e.g. Furmark.
If the grafix blacks out there as well, it's possible to be the GPU.
After a clean windows install with new drivers, should the problem presist, you could try to bake the GPU, worked for a friend of mine.

Finally managed to ship the old video card out for a new one free of charge.

IT WORKS!!!

Thanks for the help everyone. :)
