On Tuesday, April 29, 2003 @ 9:55 PM PST, I couldn't surf GTPlanet. I tried to refresh the browser and it won't load until now. I have an AOL connection. Is there something wrong with my connection or GTPlanet? It happened to me earlier this month also.

Naw, it happened to me too. GTP has little "blips" once in a while. ;)

Sometimes it really loads extremely slow. Like when i post a pic, but i just think that's my slow 56k. :dopey:

I don't think it's just your connection. I have a 256 (212 actual) upload speed so it means that a 100k file should only talk half a second. It can take up to a minute sometimes, which feels like an eternity. I think the database is checking for duplicate entries to make sure it hasn't already been loaded, as well as checking for invalid file parameters.

Just a guess...., but that's what I'm guessing.

I'm on 512/512 ADSL at home and GTPlanet does have it occasional hiccups.

(here at work I'm on a 36Mbit and even HERE it does :) )

Soon i'll be on a 512/256 connection. :)

Did you mean 3.6Mbit service, or 3Mbit service, or 36KB service?

36MBit service,, I mean....that's insane....so what, you work for a ISP or what? Do you actually have access to that kind of bandwidth?

36 Megabit :D I work for for a free ads paper which also has quite an impressive online counterpart : www.dba.dk :trouble:
I know a guy that works for a danish search engine.. They have a measly 2Gbit line... Now THAT'S bandwidth

And that's 2Gigabits for the hearing impaired

I bet you can read this before I even hit the "submit" button... That's just a sick amount of bandwidth....

The Internet is a screwed up place. It could be anything. Hubs, serverbackup, maintenance, overloaded central switches... You name it. But since it happens for all of us I think the problem lies somewhere around the GTPlanet.net server(s).

As Flerbizky put it, it could be any number of things. You can check on our host's network here to see for yourself if they are having network problems (or you could also check their Network Status forum). But, to be perfectly honest with you, the server is not in perfect health at the moment and I need to shape it up a bit. So much to do, so little time! :boggled:

Jordan, if you don't mind me asking, why are you always so busy? What is it in the real world that keeps you s occupied? I still don't know after almost 2 years. Heh.

I really wish I could put a finger on it. Life in general has had a few changes for me over the past several months, and I find it harder and harder to find any free time. I'm hoping things will clear up this summer...this is the most time I've had on my computer for the past 2 weeks. :(
