Yes, there's some issues right now when viewing the news blog on iOS devices. I hope to have them resolved sometime this week.

It crashes for me too. I think it's because the mobile theme cannot handle the volume of comments. I also think Jordan said he was working on it.

Yes, see my comments here. The large number of comments recent posts have been receiving are too much for the mobile site skin; I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hi, my pc went to heaven today and I try using my phone on gtplanet, but it seems that I can't look at the news on the app :s

I've been having the same issues with my iPhone app on an iPhone 4 with iOS 5 over both WiFi and 3G. Whenever I load a news story the app freezes up completely and then more often then not after being frozen for a while it will then crash.

I've seen Jordan's posts where it has to do with the excessive comments attached to some (most) news stories.

Any way to adjust the app so that way it loads only the news stories and not the hundreds of comments that follow? I just want to read the news story, not the 500+ comments that follow. Is it possible to update the app to include a link to a separate page with comments at the bottom of the story instead of automatically loading all of the comments with each news story? Or maybe update the app so it loads just the 10 most recent comments.

This issue has rendered the news blog pretty much unusable on the iPhone app. :(

Thanks for looking into this. :)

Sometimes the app is just closing itself on my iPhone3G, too. Not sure if it's related, I'm not browsing the main page but merely the forums when it happens.

That's correct, and that's the type of solution I'm working on. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks Jordan. This is frustrating because I really enjoy reading the news blog on the go and the app is otherwise excellent.

I don't understand how a news story about car DLC can garner nearly 700 comments (isn't that what the forums are for), but that's just me. :)

Yes, I'm a little surprised by that myself. People seem to like to use the blog comments as ways to express their opinions, whereas they may be more likely to use the forums for discussions of a topic (not to say there aren't plenty of opinions expressed here, too). It's also worth mentioning that, actually, more people read the blog than visit the forum.

I wish people would direct their discussions to the forums because the overload of comments is making the blog completely unusable for mobile users. :(

I've merged all of the reports of this problem into one thread here. The issue with loading high-comment posts on older iOS devices should be resolved now.

Appears to be working now. Thanks Jordan.

And it was all iOS devices, not just older ones. Had the problem with an iPhone 4 on iOS 5. Glad it's working again! :)
