Ipod Nano 1st Gen exchange

Ok, so my ipod nano just broke and Apple announced back in November that they are exchanging all 1st gen nano's as they have a battery fault.
However, I was just wondering if anyone knows what iPod you recieve as they have not stated what they exchange it for.
I have found various sources to suggest that they send you the new iPod Nano (the small touchscreen one), but it seems to me that they would be making a considerable loss doing this, and I doubt they still have any 1st gen Nano's around.
Does anyone know what you recieve when doing this?
 
I would guess they would give you an ipod that is the same value or less. Just contact Apple and see what you can get for an exchange.
 
I have heard they give you back an identical nano to the one you gave in but its refurbished with a brand new front and rear shell and new battery.

Friend of mine received the latest one in 8GB form. 👍

Awaiting mine now, too. :)
 
Just had to send mine off this morning. Apple said it may take 6 weeks to recieve my iPod. that's too long to wait without any music :(
