Well my ipod is not functioning correctly. Here is the problem. I tried to update my ipod, i left it there to update. then when i came back, about 5 mins later, it still hasn't updated. Itunes didnt recognize it. Then i took off the ipod from the USB port. I restarted my pc, i opened up itunes, it didn't recognize. So i downloaded the updater, it told me to plug in the ipod, so i did. The ipod was not being recognized.

Here's a list of what i tried to do:

-Reset the ipod
-Updater
- Used USB ports in the back of the pc

Nothing has worked.

BTW, i have a 4th gen 40 gig iPod.
 
You're better off asking at the Ipod forums.

At first glance, you should probably try reflashing the ipod insteading of updating it.

Otherwise you have yourself one white brick.

apple.com has great forums if your problem isnt already answered itll be figured out quick.

at least youll have a good looking brick.
 
Find someone with a mac and ask if they can restore it for you. I had the same problem, same ipod.

...and you should move this to the electronics forum.
 
Ask for customer support. My shuffle died in a week after i got it, so i talked to Customer Support who were pretty nice. I have a nano now. It's cool. 👍
 
My iPod did this, then it's battery seems to have stopped charging properly. I haven't been to get it checked out by Apple because it's warranty has run out and they don't make the mini's anymore. I miss it but I'll survive.
 
Well before i updated, i put in album art, but my ipod isnt color. i just wanted to see album art when im just in itunes. should i take off all the album art?
 
Does it sound like the hard drive is skipping when you have it connected? Does it skip during song playback? My hard drive used to spool up and then cut off repeatedly. The sound is a, "vrrrrrr--koooooosh". I took it to my dad's and we restored it on the mac with no problem.
 
yeah, do that. Are you using a mac to restore it or what? If it's giving you problems, restore it again and update your drivers too.
 
my ipod never updates when i put new songs on my comp....
so i have to clear my ipod and reinstall itunes every time

my ipod also now doenst put my photos on it says the file is missing or sumink but obvs isnt!

anyways...ipods are so over rated!
