Pushes back the console release as well. Will be $25 when it eventually arrives.

Original Fire Studios/iRacing released a dev diary earlier today. It’s a shame about the delay, but the team appear very excited about their new game and I think iRacing are one of the few racing game developers you can trust not to give you a half-baked product.

I finally tried out the demo. Driving feels very satisfying without being too easy. I’ve had a lot of fun racing the AI in this demo too, they dive bomb, bump you and take each other out. It’s chaos, not unlike top split Porsche Cup in iRacing-proper lately.

One thing though – rallycross would go so hard in this game.

Looking forward to the console release. Happy as ever to see a proper career mode, something all racing games should have.

Im curious about this one, cant wait to hear what the community thinks of it. I hope the gameplay is good.

Other than the change to chase cam and the extra management stuff, it pretty much is Circuit Superstars with licenced cars & tracks.

Probably won’t be for me then, I was thinking maybe a iracing lite sort of thing, with bonnet cam 😁 and decent physics that I could use a wheel on and enjoy some good racing

That's the Nascar game they released last year (and possible the Indycar game due this year).

Why don’t we get the real iRacing on console. Why this Mariokart thing?
I highly doubt this will ever happen. You would be hard pressed to find a player base willing to not only shell out for PlayStation Plus, but also the iRacing subscription itself, cars and tracks. All of which could be more expensive too to cover the commission PlayStation take from sales.

You would also be missing out on a lot of 3rd party content, namely Trading Paints which pretty much everyone uses to display custom liveries but also things like Crew Chief and paid setup shops.

As mentioned, there’s NASCAR 25 which has a more forgiving physics model but uses iRacing’s laser scanned cars and tracks.

Physics-wise, GT7 pretty much is like an iRacing-lite. It’s near enough for a ‘simcade’, just some sensations feel a little simplified and/or watered down.

Completely sold on this. Quick casual race sessions, nothing too serious or stressful. Perfect for a handheld, I may even expedite my Steam Deck purchase so I can play it rather than waiting for console release.

A quick preview by iRacing YouTuber Jackzer:

That's pretty good handling for driving with mouse and keyboard. I imagine with a controller or wheel it'll feel much better, after some experience with the physics model.

The handling in the demo is great with a controller. There is a little bit of a learning curve with the physics model but it’s also really satisfying once you get to grips with it. If you’re experienced with racing games you will have no problem.

Game is now out - £21 on Steam.
