Came home from work yesterday to find we'd been burgled. Among the (thankfully) few things taken were my TV, laptop and PS3, with almost all my games; they left Dirt 2 (presumably 'cos they have taste) and Deep Space, 'cos they must have heard I'd not played it yet. So of course I have also had my beloved GT5 garage ripped away from me; level 37/39, 500 odd cars, most of the DLC... Thankfully, I'm one of those clever chaps who backed up his game save on a flash drive. Ah, but where is said flash drive?

Still in the PS3...

Man, that sucks!!!!! At least no one was hurt ( I know, not very comforting but....)

Best of luck to you and yours... and sorry.

Thanks man. Hey, it could have been a lot worse. Left my bass guitars behind... cleared out the booze though! At least it'll be fun starting my garage over again.

Dam thieves! They're life is already crap enough so they have to make other's lives bad as well.

Best of luck to you!

So basically you got a geeky thief.

Glad no one was there though.

Does your PS3 automatically sign in to the PSN. If it does then they could screw over your PSN account as well. If I was you I would find a way to change your PSN password.

God the irony...sorry to hear about that man. Who would have thought to put your flash drive in safe keeping? I always keep mine plugged into the front of my PS3 because, well, it's convenient you know lol.

Hope you get back some of your stuff, but if you have to get a new PS3 and GT5, I may be able to help you rebuild your car collection my friend.:sly:👍

That sucks. Knowing the NZ Police, they won't do anything about finding the scumbag's who did it. I can help out with rebuilding your collection if you want. 👍

at least no one was hurt... that is untill you find him , then someone will be hurt right?

Thing is, you can restore you backed-up GT5 save from your stolen PS3 on any other PS3. So don't kick yourself to much over it.

I will be removing my thumbdrive from my PS3 as soon as I get home and hide it in my sock shelf.

Man that sucks. Bet it was kids. Real burglars wouldn't bother with the grog. I wonder if PSN could track the ip address if they ever try to log on with it?

That really blows man, theifs have no respect, id be happy to throw some cars, paint etc if you are unable to get it all back, good luck tracking the scum down

I really really hate thieves. If they come in to my house they are going to get a rude awakening is all I'm sayin'. Home Alone style.

Problem is, his USB was in the stolen PS3...

And to the OP, if you want to change your password, you can go to the PSN (or SEN whatever it's called now) website and maybe try to change it.

Sorry to hear this. Glad to hear nothing bad happened though. I wonder if the police can track it... Hmmm...

No doubt Sony could "find" it if they wanted to, should the thieves / whoever they passed it onto connect it to the PSN, or whatever. Whether they would / will is another question.

I hate having things stolen. I'm still not over my trials bike getting nicked in 2005...
Glad they left your basses, though - they were probably too conspicuous, luckily.

Like the others have said, the problem is that who ever stole it is going to turn around and sell it for quick cash. They took whatever they could easily carry, which is why they left the bass and the games. So even if Sony were to track it, odds are the guys who have it aren't the ones who ripped you off.

About all you can do is file a police report, and if you have insurance to file a claim.

I would be more upset about the loss of my things much more than things like save files.

Hey, thanks everybody for the messages of support, and the offers to help rebuild my garage. Yep, I got onto PSN this morning, changed my password, and took my credit card details off there. Made the necessary calls to police and insurance; not expecting a lot from the police though eh! And Union Strike, I'm not unduly upset about the save file; the point of the thread was to express what a true 'DOH!' moment I had when I realised that the backup was still in the PS3; that's the irony.

I guess this is the one and only time I can be thankful for my PS3 having only 2 USB ports... 99% of the time it's my G27 and my wireless keyboard dongle filling those 2 spots, while my thumbdrive is usually in and amongst the random crap in my keyjar.

That sucks. When/if you get back in too GT Send me a Friend request I can pass you some tickets too help get you back where you where.

This is a subject MY family has had to deal with...my mom had a necklace stolen that didn't even belong to her - she'd borrowed it to wear at her 2nd wedding...the GOOD thing is the culprits were eventually nabbed by the authorities...the BAD thing is we never saw the necklace (or anything else that might've been taken) again:grumpy: Turns out at least one of the guilty party was an "ex"friend of my stepbrother...the jerk somehow managed to get his meathooks on a key to our house w/o anyones' knowledge...mom came home from somewhere and found this guy sitting in one of the bedrooms drinking a beer and he said something like who the hell are you? Mom replied, "You tell me - I live here." We'd just met the guy like a week or so before since he WAS a friend of my stepbrother. The cops eventually caught these jerks during a stakeout of sorts and caught them in the act.

Man that is just bad i feel sorry for you ... most important thing is that nobody got hurt . Material things can be replaced lives cannot .

This reminds me when we went to out insurance broker to get a fire insurance , the guy tried to sell us a burgular ( spelling i know ) insurance wich was a lot of $$$ but it also needed an alarm wich was only allowed to be placed by one specific firm . My wife looked at me and smiled and i started laughing ....
1 51kilo and 1 56kilo rottweiler ( both K9 trained ) are so much better then any alarm system ....
Trusth me our system is proven to work :D
