Does anybody else do things in GT5 that other might consider a little...off. Maybe a little strange, a little obsessive compulsive?

I for one feel an sense of loss every time I install a non-removable tuning upgrade to a car I don't yet have a duplicate for. And I abhor the thought of installing a non removable upgrade to a car that I can't get a stock duplicate of. And since I found out that engine wear and tear can never be completely undone, even using the rebuild engine feature, I detest driving unique and expensive cars in GT Life... Of course, unless I have (or will shortly receive) a pristine duplicate.

Anyone else do anything a little weird?

Rebuild engine does completely undo engine wear, rebuilt engine with new oil is exactly the same as a new car with new oil.

But yeah i almost never purchase non-removable upgrades for my cars.

I'm in the habit of stalking the used car lot, buying duplicate cars just so I can fully tune one while leaving the other car with the permanent mods off. This doesn't actually seem that irrational to me, it's more practical really.

Here's some actual irrational tendencies...

> I've been in the habit of researching, machine testing, and filling out pre-printed spec sheets (pen & paper) for most every car I drive, ever since the first Gran Turismo. I do this because it makes the entire gaming/car experience seem more real. :) If I don't do this...if I just get in a car and start driving, something is definitely missing from my game.

> I'm also in the habit of having different "drivers", even in A-spec, since my GT/GT2 days. So I pretend sometimes I'm a yuppy driver who only drives BMWs, Lexus, and such. My Vanilla Rice character only drives "riced out" rides (Integras, Civics, Evos, etc.) There's the Soccer Mom. The white trash trailer park guy who only drives American rides (with a few crappy imports thrown in occasionally). "No replacement for displacement" is his motto.

> I used to make little stories during my GT/GT2 days for these drivers. Nowadays, I don't have this sort of time anymore. :( I miss my stories. :neurotic:

> As I drive, I'm also in the habit of leaning into turns, rocking this way and that as the car reacts to bumps and avoids other drivers.

I've always had a strange habit of looking behind me (as in, using the rear view) when not necessary, or just, in some sort of weird habit.

Depending on what it 'feels' like I have to do, will either hold it down for some random amount of time (until it feels like I'm OK to stop) or press it regularly / rapidly for no real reason, other than to complete the 'pattern' of presses my brain seems to be 'needing'

I've always just assumed it was some obsessive compulsive behaviour, seems harmless enough, just weird =)

Do you think the UFOs are coming to get you?

I usually buy several sets of the same tire compound just to make sure my trackday won't end prematurely :)
(My item list so far includes 36 sets of soft racing tires, which in Grinding-$ translates into alot of circling around Indy  )

I'm confused. You only need 1 set of tyres, you dont need to buy new sets for each pitstop ^^.

Man, and I thoght I would be the only one experiencing this :D
As you said, I feel the need to look back even when I have a large lead, which sometimes leads to stupid crashes :ouch:
Other than that, I don't think I have any weird habits :dopey:

I rarely modify my cars, If i do that, is only for some "budget challenge" with some friends, or just to try something new, but I usually don't modify at all my cars. For online play, I buy only removable parts, but I tend to race with my cars completely stock even online.

If I have decent lead, I find it absolutely necessary to hit the e-brake and slide backwards over the finish line.
I can't help but try to get revenge against AI cars that do something stupid, like bump me or get in my way.
I scream "That's bulls&$%!!" when something doesn't go my way.

I have to select EVERY option in GT Auto, even when I know it won't allow me to do it for the car I'm in. For example, if you rebuild the engine in a used car, you don't have to change the oil anymore, but I still click the oil change service, even though I know it will say the oil is still fresh. Or when I paint the car, I won't need a car wash after. And I 'attempt' to race mod every car, even though I know the car I'm in doesn't allow it.

This carries over into the tuning shop as well. When you're in most race cars or rally cars, they always come with certain mods pre-installed, like FC Suspension or FC Transmission, but even though I know the car has that part already, I have to 'double-check' every menu.

And yes, I have OCD IRL, although it's moderate. Sometimes it makes life a little more interesting .

Yes, I do have 4 Nissan GTRs, 5 McLaren F1s, 2 Enzos, 2 Veyrons, 3 Lambos, 2 Speed 12s because of that.
Never duped.
When I buy an used car I HAVE to wash it and change the oil.
OCD.

Nope, after many thousands of kms and several engine rebuilds the engine can no longer be fully restored with an engine rebuild. This has been confirmed by many people (especially after letting Bob do many 24hr sessions with an X2010).

I modify all my cars, and have multipe cars of the same models wth different color, rims, etc. One for drag racing, and one for circuit racing that is.

I have an obsession for taking out different cars with different cylinder configurations, just to remind myself how different each of them sound:dopey:

Yeah, if only that were true about engine rebuilds... I shed a tear every time my ZR1-RM Indy mule loses power. I'm down to 902 bhp now, but I've been grinding Dream Car with a 908 so that I can hoard LMP's from the UCD that can't be easily replaced by a trip to the new car dealership.

DUDE I do the same stuff but mine is when ever I exit a corner its weird, I just do it and don't even think about it my G|F's like what the hell do you do that for? I'm like I don't know. I just do it.👍

My X1 has done near 20,000 miles and is back at full HP.. I didnt even engine rebuild it.

I set it online, and when it was offline again it was back in new condition ^^.

Maybe not as Irrational as most but I have this thing while Drifting Tsukuba's final Turn, where I'll drift my back wheels on the Chicane for Luck or Drift as close to the Pit Wall as I can and or Tap my rear against it. I guess I got that from Watching D1GP at Tsukuba on Option Video!

I'm definitely obsessive about certain aspects, and it actually limits my enjoyment.

1. I check the UCD after almost every race because I don't want to miss a car. I know I can go 6 or 7 races before they're all replaced, but I have to check it each time. I even avoid championships in the fear that I'll miss some used cars.

2. I rarely drive my used cars unless I have a duplicate. I don't know why, because they already have miles on them anyway, but that's the way I am.

3. I'm avoiding buying any premium cars until I've cleared my "want" list from the UCD. I'm currently up to almost 500 cars and less than 80 of them are premium, most of which I've won or had to buy for specific races.

4. Once I start a race/challenge I can't do anything else until I've improved my position. Not counting endurance races, there are still 5 races in special events I haven't golded yet, and now I avoid doing them because I know they'll take up hours of my time because I'll sit there and restart until I get gold.

5. I used to never drive a used car without changing the oil, but due to playing online I've slid a little on this one. Still, that little oil light really annoys me, and I usually will immediately take the car in for an oil change if I notice it on.

I think, if I recall correctly anyway, that racing online doesn't affect your engine or oil wear. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong.

Still I totally get that. When racing in B-Spec unless I'm SUPER short on time, I'll always back out to the maintenance menu and oil change before starting the next enduro race with the X2010.

I don't know how you can Forget! Not only does the Oil light come on, The Engine makes this sound like metal parts are grinding and HP drops. I've done the samething, I'll buy a used car but not use it right away and forget the oil change. Can you Blow your engine in GT5?

I do pretty much the same, If a car has 1 or more different aero parts, i.e type a, b and c front splitter etc then ill buy a car for each so a type a car a type b car and so on, and also have 1 if RM is possible and a totally stock car aswell odd I know lol

Yes, that's correct.. it happens after more than 20000 miles. So it's not a huge problem for premium cars, but it is for a UCD car that already has more than 30000 miles on the clock.

I congratulate myself with a mild applause for each Golded licence challenge. I have 6 left to go. However, with every failed attempt, I throw the car into a slide or wall and hit the restart button even if at the finish line

^This and I usually have a modified and unmodified version of every car that I can. This mostly includes "common" cars like Accord EX '03 (what my wife drives for her real car).

I also keep a spreadsheet of cars and stats with lap times around certain courses for my own obsessive comparisons.
