Is anyone having issues with random lockups while driving?

I've played a total of about 16-17 hours and it has locked up 3 times on me. I'm not sure what to think. Until now, my PS3 has never locked up on me.

I didn't know if it's some kind of bug or what. I've ensured that my system has plenty of ventilation too.
 
On menus or while driving? They said there were issues with too many people online that also causes issues with single player in some of the menus due to it always being connected.

While driving. I am aware of the connectivity issues.

There was a small smudge on the disc that I just cleaned off. Maybe this was the issue?
 
My PS3 locked up in the International C-3 license menu just after the little gold animation and music. So far, it has been the only time that I've had to force quit the game.

FYI, I own a PS3 slim with 500gb 7200rpm drive. Previously, the only game that has locked up for me is 2010 FIFA World Cup while playing Captain Your Country mode...a recurring problem EA Sports never patched :yuck:
 
Why don't you try disable the internet connection in the ps3 network settings and see if it does the same.

Also you could clear out as much junk on your ps3 hdd as you can, and also delete all the game data in gt5, flush the internet cash in gt5, and try again.

Haven't had any issues. In fact everything has been smooth. Even the installation didn't lock up or freeze.

I cleaned the smudge (it was very insignificant) and disabled the internet connection. I don't really have a lot of "junk" on my hard drive.

Wouldn't deleting the game data cause me to lose all of my progress?
