Haven't I said that... oh wait, this isn't the Forza Motorsport thread. Never mind!

Anyhow, lame or not, the question is still "is GT4 really a sim?" A question is a question is a question. If he wanted to make this a special investigation, he'd further mock me and get people like (you know who) to b*tch on me like I'm a pile of dog crap. But anyhow, I'm not going to further make a bash, but last time I checked it, it was:

"Gran Turismo: the real driving SIMULATOR." Am I not right?

it is a sim..

==from e3 gamespot.com===
Toward the end of our meeting Yamauchi revealed the names of three previously unannounced courses that will be appearing in GT4, namely the streets of Hong Kong, the Costa di Amalfi tarmac rally track in Italy, and Germany's famous 13-mile-long Nurburgring. All of the circuits in the game have been painstakingly re-created to the extent that every single point in the environment is accurate to within 15mm--around two-thirds of an inch. To drive this point home Yamauchi told us that Nissan's top test driver, who happens to be a huge Gran Turismo fan, was asked to drive one of the Nissan Skylines in the game around the Nurburgring and compare his Gran Turismo time to his real-life time. The driver was able to complete both in times of a little over eight minutes, and the two times ended up being within just five seconds of each other.

True, but you can achieve this not only using real world physics but also with a much more simple solution, I'm not saying that GT doesn't use physics, but that the close times are not necessarily indication of a true simulation. You can fudge the perfomance of the car so that in the end, the times are very close.

I'm just nitpicking here, GT looks good.

who cares if its a sim or not? does it make any difference at all?? nope! why are we trying to put in a certain category? too many accountants and not enough gamers around here

So it looks like Hong Kong, Citta di Aria, and Nurburgring will be in the house. And we will infact get the ultra-long Nurburgring course. Damn amazing, man. PGR2 (and for that matter, Bizarre Creations) is going to get OWNED by GT4 and PD. Go get 'em, boys (and girls)!

GT is a simulation.

Best wheel-support money can buy. NEVER forget that from GT3 onwards, playing with wheel is the only way you can experience GT's simulation aspects in full. Without wheel it is a just best racing game ever.

Unmatched graphics. Graphic isn't everything, but GT's graphic just can't be beaten, no matter of platform or title.

Almost infinite set-up possibilities. You can say that some PC games have more options, but GT has enough of them to keep you occupied forever. GT4 will probabaly give even more of them.

And those options are nothing without the physic engine that come together with. GT's psyhics engine is still a little bit too fast (I like to see the psyhic engine of F355 game as best), but game is slowing down permanently, from the first game onwards. Guess that with GT5 we'll finally get a true sense of speed.

Although it has nothing to do with simulation itself, achivement in terms of having real-time for tracks in just 1% difference is a goal to be proud with. It is a huge and very unique achievement of people who are working on arhitecture and physics department. Nobody will come close to that so soon.

Infinite replay value. It has nothing to do with simulation, but no other racing game can't keep you occupied for years. GT can do that.

Best multiplayer ever. With or without online racing in GT4, GT's multiplayer is the best racing multiplayer ever.

John's the optimistic, friendly face of GTP, something we really ought all to be thankful for. You're also right that pedantic discussion of whether it's a sim or not, it's a great game. In terms of simulating driving and racing I think it's great.

agree

John I didn't know you used phrases like "owned"...Everytime I see PGR2 get trodden on, I feel the need to defend it, so ummmm YOU (John), you leave my PGR2 alone you beeehatch! :( :(

*runs away to cry*

haha.

People need to stop being fanboys to a particular game, console, whatever. It's petty. To each their own.

Well, I think people who come out in defence of both sides are often wasting their time. You defend the Xbox whenever it's harassed - why bother? Whoever's saying stuff is obviously ignorant and that's rarely something one person can change. Just leave them to wallow in it, they'll learn with time or remain retarded by themselves. Shouldn't bother us. Just be apathetic and ignore them.
