Sometimes i get the feeling that the driving in Gran turismo 5 has been toned down. Let me explain.

When you drive a powerful car in real life it is like "riding a wild bull". They are loose cannons that you should be afraid of. I never get that feeling in GT5, Even with the X1 which is the fastest trackable vehicle ever thought of, Can you imagine driving something with over 1500hp that weights as much as a shopping cart, and yet it's boring.

Every take-off is the same straight as an arrow "I don't need a streering wheel to do this" type stuff. Everything feels too smooth.

Don't get me wrong i enjoy GT5 but just think they missed the real reason people race in the first place, the rush, Fear of pushing it to far, Noisy clanking monsters waiting to make the road scream beneath them.

Next time you take out a fast car ask yourself. "Is this what it's like to drive a 900hp monster". The simple answer is no.

Try taking off your Racing Softs, fit on the stock tires they came with, and remove all aids not including ABS. Have fun. Maybe even get rid of your suspension kit and drivetrain modifications.

And you can't really use the X2010 as an example, since it has such an enormous amount of downforce from it's wings and the vacuum it generates under the car.

Try to take the Ferrari Enzo out for a spin at the Nordsleife - with its stock tires (sport hard) with no aids, and give it your best... That'a a true supercar, and it isn't he easiest car to do continuous fast laps in.

SRF, ASM and TCS off. Track Grip Reduction set to OFF.

Fore even realistic approach go to online mode and set tire wear/fuel depletion to ON.

Take F40 or McLaren MP4/12 on default Sport Hard compound.

The Vulgar Display of Power.

So you take me for a noob?

You know that guy that shows up racing underdog cars all the time for a challenge? Ya thats me.

No he doe'snt think or insinuate that your a noob, he gave you a very honest answer to your question. Maybe you really do need to try it instead of living the life on RS tyres.

I was driving a tuned Zonda R on sports hards yesterday and I was afraid to put more then 20% throttle in a turn.

This might be to far over your head. The thread has nothing to do with assists, Tires, any of that. I have drove with all assists off since release day so relax on that garbage.

Im simply saying that GT5 is to soft in it's delivery of high powered cars and racing. PERIOD

Given that the staff have had to speak to you before about your conduct I would strongly suggest that you loose the attitude and that you do it now.

You were lucky to still be a member following your last outburst, don't make me regret that choice.

Scaff

Oooh, I won't say so. Try driving any old school Ruf, that should be raw enough an experience for most. Not 'raw' enough still? Get a 1000+hp Minolta 88-CV thingy, whack some sport hard/soft tyres on it, take it for a drive on some twisty stuff. Should be raw enough for even the greatest of drivers.

Drive a Murcielago LP640 on comfort softs, that car was my "daily driver" before my account corrupted and it certainly feels like a proper widow-making supercar.
The Enzo and Mclaren F1 have the feeling too but in a different way, more racy.
And the X1 is not a good comparison, too much downforce and stability, road cars are best for this I reckon.

OP maybe youre driving the wrong cars mate ?

Cars such as the Zonda R , some Ferraris, Lambos and the 2 McLarens are extremely difficult to drive . How difficult it is is up to you, be it increasing the horsepower from stock or what tyres you use. Plenty of the racecars are difficult to drive aswell.

I havent seen you mention online , with the different physics the cars can feel more twitchy plus tyre wear adds an extra element on longer runs/races.

Try dring a fully tuned Mercedes C63 AMG @ 800+ bhp its crazy even with racing softs. The driving challenge you seek is there you just need to look for it.

Has our cuddly forum ninja been deleting certain posts?

I agree that although some cars are a bloody handfull, overall, they are a little too easy to drive. I'm fairly sure that if I got into say, an LMP car IRL, I'd be very dead, very soon if I tried to to drive like I do in game. I certainly wouldn't be able to handle a 'ring lap in an F2007, G-force or no G-force.
Yes you can make it a lot harder by putting unrealistically crappy tyres on, but should you have to?

I liked how in forza I gave a chevy aveo 930 hp, rwd and that made it feel like it had real power as it was a real struggle to keep it on the straights, made me feel like this would be what it was really like (not necessarily the aveo as it would probably kill itself) to have extreme power

It's lovely when the full power of the F40 comes after all that turbo lag... its an awesome feeling.

I know exactly what you're talking about right here. If you watch in-car videos of race cars on the Nurburgring or even a lightly modded Honda Civic is feeling is intense and you get a sensation of the "dirt and grime" but GT5 fails to represent the total feeling but it's not easy to do if you want the game to look and run smoothly IMO.

👍👍👍

At OP - you're not pushing it enough (or as ED stated you drive only on racing softs).

I like how the OP abandoned the thread after the Mod spanked him

You arent pushing it unless the tires are screaming in every corner. And stop using race softs it makes the game boring

I didn't abandon the thread at all. Hockey season is starting that's all :)

I still stand by my original statements tho. Maybe if you guys have a minute go onto youtube and search up NFS shift 2 1000hp+ cars there are a bunch of cars on there that a guy repacked codes on and it is just incredible the difference in feeling the cars have at full power. I don't own NFS nor do i want to but the sounds are spot on and it really is cool to watch. They just seem much more alive.

I would like to see GT5 in the middle. With the real cornering physics and raw power seen in those videos.

Go drive a 1024hp sl600 with sport hard tires. It cant get rawer than that
With absolutely no assists

EDIT: and i looked at those video's of the 1000hp Shift 2 cars and its totally un-raw. I saw a vid of a 1000 hp skyline doing 450 KPH how is that raw? That cars aerodynamics would not let it go that fast. So you saying that game is realer with high power cars is an invalid point.

Maybe take that one Caterham idea, only push it into sports tires. I suggest hard. Then, jump on the Nordscheife, and go into hood view. I'd say that's pretty "raw." Turn off the ABS if your up for it. ;)

I'll touch on this a bit. When i said "Raw" I didn't mean driving fast cars on horrible tires. I ment a hightend sense of speed, power and noise.

I can drive powerfull cars on soap bars all day but you will never get this feeling out of GT5.

If i was going to make a game I would make the power and braking feel so harsh that you have no choice but to hold on tight. The cornering in GT5 is great and one of the best physics out there for consules but the "raw" power feeling or even G-forces are almost non existent.

Again this is just my view on things.

I just checked out those videos, I didn't know you could take a sharp turn at 145mph. Need for Speed is designed to be exaggerated compared to reality to appeal to... well people like you.

Comfort tires is all I have to say. Most cars in the real world come with road tires, and comfort's are as close to that as possible. Sports are like R-Compounds, and Racing Tires are slicks. Trust me, take a ZR1 for a spin with Comfort soft tires, it'll scare the bejusus out of you.
