Is drifting getting old yet? Or at least the videos ...

How many times can you watch a white Silvia slide around a corner? Or a blue R34 ... woo, it's sideways. Maybe neat the first ten or so times, but my goodness. Isn't there something else we can do?

I'm with him. It IS getting old. I'll always do it, but its still getting boring. ONce you get the hang of it, theres not much fun anymore.. 👍 Loud Music 👍

It's not drifting that's getting old. It's GT3 that is getting old. I don't even play it anymore. I'm waiting for GT4.

Just wait until I put out my video, whenever the hell I finish it.

IMO... if it's boring and you dont enjoy it anymore.. keep it to yourself! There IS no limit to what you can do... The only time when you get bored is when YOU, and not others, think that you have reached the pinnacle and that there is no more room for improvement... implying that you are the best... well look around see? There are plenty of talent out there, people who can put your drifts to shame... but this is not about challange to all... it's fun... and fun never stops if you really like what you are doing... so for those who are bored, i pitty you... coz you might find something else to do.. but will eventually get bored of that aswell...

So LM. . . Need some support?

"sigh" I'm getting really tired of people saying that drifting is stupid, and boring. If you think it's boring, that's most likely because you either suck at it, or are not a drifter at all. Either way keep your opinions to yourself. I am constantly improving my drifts, and learning new techniques, so I will be perfectly happy with GT3, until GT4 comes out.;)

Yes, but coming to a drifting forum when you are not a drifter (Loudmusic), and talking **** about drifting isn't what this forum is all about. What was he trying to accomplish by this? I think he's just bored, and wanted to piss off some drifters. I grip race as well as drift, so I have respect for both, but some people just don't have respect in their vocabulary, apparently. ;)

Hmmm I think I have an idea what yo can do - to fight the boredome... Why don't you take your GT3 out (it's collecting dust anyway) and punch a hole in it... get a piece of string and use it as an ornament for your car (that's if you have one)... watch how it spins around when you are driving... bet you'll have lotsa fun then!! And leave the drifiting for the Beeeeg boyz ok?

i'm with LoudMusic on this one. as much as i'd hate to admit it, drifting is getting kinda boring. :(

hopefully GT4 will get me back into it.

You can tell by the thread topics that it's winding out. If the the same rules that apply to the rest of GTP applied in the drift forum, i.e. no redundant, pointless threads, it would've died long ago.

I think this whole thing boils down to one's passion for driving. Some us are born to do it, some of us try to do it, and others only do it because we're already bored to tears.

Those of us that are born to do it live for our cars, and the times we can get in it and really let loose, and push its limits. but those that only try to because "it looks fun", will quickly get bored, because once they think their good, they wont strive to get any better, and be satisfied at the level they are at, and quickly get bored. And those that are already bored and just want something fun? well, they're beat before they even start, lol.

See, for some of you, driving is just something to do, but to some of us, its a challenge, an art, and something we aspire to be better at. Does a painter get bored of painting? or a carpenter tired of carving? I'm sure we all have our moments when we just need to take a break, but those of us who love to drive, it is our passion, our skill, our art, and our way of expressing ourselves.

So is drifting getting boring? Dont know, it depends on what kinda person you are ;)

As for me and MY house, we will go on drifting in the house of SIDEWAYS FOREVER!! MUAHAHA!

All the bored people is what I call wanna be's... they wanna be a drifter like sooo much for a couple of seconds.. until they find something else they wanna be... to you it's just a phase... so pleeeez.. phase out.. out and leave the people who loves drifting with peace...

I'm speaking for myself here, to me it's just not a phase.. but unfortunately we are going to see alot of you guys... Fashion F%$ks! You are only interested coz everybody else is interested.. like a herd of sheep...

I stick to what said earlier... if you don't have something positive to say about drifting in general... the shut da hell up! Forum is about expressing one's opinion - YES! - but in such a way that it can be a lesson or guidance to others...

Forums are to express ideas, true. But this seems to me like a direct p*ss-off attack to drifters.

How bout this Loudmusic......you sidebar says "think before you speak"......uhhhhh going into a DRIFTING forum asking AVID DRIFTERS if their SPORT OF PASSION is getting old??????

Practice what you preach dude....

Well said. ;)

It doesn't seem to me like LoudMusic was trying to knock down on drifting. Nowhere in his post does it say that he thinks drifting is stupid or boring... and he didn't flame, either. He just expressed his feelings and asked a simple question. Is drifting getting old?

LoudMusic: To me, it seems like you're missing out on what's so great about drifting... or at least the vids. One of the things you can get out of watching a vid, though, is learn more about the driver's rhythm as well as how they're approaching each corner... from entry to exit. Maybe afterwards, you will find some other way to drift that corner and compare (This is one of the things that have rarely been discussed on here.) Though, what would be something really interesting to watch is an actual close battle between two drifters... *hint cough* ;)

Or maybe it's the vids themselves that give you the impression that there's nothing new. Am I close to answering your question? :)

Drifting hasn't gotten old yet because it's always a different experience each time. You never drift a turn the same way. It's not like racing where you take one solid line and follow that on each track and turn all the time. Your styles and tastes are gonna evolve alot too. So car selection and technique is always changing.

I can't beleive you guys missed the best quote.

This is so true. If you think about it, there are like 15 cars that people use for drifting, whereas in GT4, there will 50 cars. And more importantly, a Sileighty

Maybe he was thinking that drifting was getting old because of watching the videos...which I have to admit will become sorta repetitive for some, but the way to analyse it is how the video was put together. I still appreciate watching them because each individual mixes his own flavor into it.

Now that I got the Logitech driving force pro and a modchip...I've been drifting in GT Concept so my enthusiasm for the game just shot up more. Gran Turismo is just so much fun...and like what others have already said...the outcome is never the same...you can always drift the corner differently. I think if it had not been for purchasing a wheel for GT3, I would never have appreciated the game as much as I do....seriously, I was bored with GT3, until I got a wheel and then from then on, it was GT3 all the time and drifting with the wheel all the time. [First wheel was a driving force, my current wheel is the driving force pro<-- worth the purchase]

Yeah I agree... I'm still playing GT3 though. :banghead: argh... need... g... t... 4... I almost wasted money getting NFS U or Ridge racer or that other retarded driving game. Still trying to find a good shooter game with lots of gore though too.

Drifting is getting old. You turn your car sideways, wow. It's the same thing, over and over again.

In that case, you could say that racing is getting old. You just go around a track over and over again.

GT3 or drifting aren't getting old, just the ways of we drift is getting old. Like you said "turn your car sideways", I bet that most of you can do much more amazier things that just turn your car sideways, can't you?

How many of you can do perfectly clean 180+180? If somebody doesn't know, that means you first turn your car to go backwards then turn it to go forward again.

A new thing that someone can put in their videos is a small screen where shows you drifting, I think it's a great idea for people who uses wheel to drift.

There's so much to do...

BreakerOhio already did that with his ReverseIt video. It was recently posted on this forum. So many people show the wheel motion, gas and break.......what else is new???

People are doing spin drifts....150+'s.....reverse into drifts....It's been going on forever. The point of the way we do it is to show others out own personal styles. There is only ONE Pergatory, ONE Bengee, ONE Cudaman, ONE Thio...the list of talented drifters goes on and on.....and there are more coming in all the time. Some not as good....some like Catch-myDrift? just come out of nowhere, and suprize us all. Some like BAZZ are sleeping giants. If people are getting "bored" with it, you just aren't seeing it with the fresh eye that it needs to be seen with.

Myself, I have a ravenous hunger for vids to add to my ever-growing collection. Each vid is unique from the last, and everybody's style is different. I see it...others see it....some people just don't.
