People are doing spin drifts....150+'s.....reverse into drifts....It's been going on forever. The point of the way we do it is to show others out own personal styles. There is only ONE Pergatory, ONE Bengee, ONE Cudaman, ONE Thio...the list of talented drifters goes on and on.....and there are more coming in all the time. Some not as good....some like Catch-myDrift? just come out of nowhere, and suprize us all. Some like BAZZ are sleeping giants. If people are getting "bored" with it, you just aren't seeing it with the fresh eye that it needs to be seen with.

Myself, I have a ravenous hunger for vids to add to my ever-growing collection. Each vid is unique from the last, and everybody's style is different. I see it...others see it....some people just don't.

im all for drifting, but yeah like everything else that u can do it gets kind of routine or "boring" after a while ill agree with that. but the way i see it is all u need right now is inspiration. yea sure people can be typical, use crappy music in thier vids, whatever it might be in ur opinion, but its only up to u to elevate and bring what u thought u loved to the next level. go take a break or something and come back with an open mind thats ready for exploration. and start up ur own vids to show the way u see drifting to be as something u love or hate

Like i said before. Whoever said "A passion for driving" and what not: Shut the hell up. people can have a passion for driving and not drifting. Ass..

I agree on some points that drifting is getting pretty boring in reference to GT3 and watching the same style of vids over and over again. But when you have people like flohting point who make kick ass InitialD mixes and people like Catch My Drift? who make totally cool drifting exhibitions, it makes for a more refreshing experience, yeah it's the same vids just in a different light, but that's what makes the vids different.

When you have ten or more members send in their videos of them taking a 240sx fastback around Trial Mountain sideways and watch them just as they are, you start to get bored around vid 2:lol: But when you say, hey, who can make the cleanest turns, longest drifts, biggest smoke, etc., you take those same exact vids and turn it into something that makes you WANT to watch the next one.

I mean sure, it's almost gotten to the point where you have cliched drifting vids (e.g. a S14 sliding about), where you open the forums and say to yourself,
"Yep, there's another one!"
But, in my opinion, that's what makes the drifting threads so unique, because you rarely if ever hear about a racing thread talking about, "Is Grip Driving Getting Old?" or "Yep, There's Another, F1 or JGTC Completing a 3:30 on the Complex String."

For the most part we are the only vid posters on the forum, with the exception of online racing and a few scampered 400m and time attacks of course, and it's just come to a point that we like showing off our skills so much that it's become repetitive.

I guess in a nutshell, I'm just trying to say that the drift forum is what you make it, if you go in with the mindset:
"Oh well, let me see what drifter wannabe posted a new vid that he/she expects me to download."
Then you are going to begin to hate the threads and you will think that everything is the same and that drifting is getting old and redundant.
But if you go into the forums with my mindset, a mindset like
"Gee, I wonder what new threads/vids are up today, oh, so and so has a new vid, cool let me check it out!"
Then you will find yourself enjoying the forums more and more and you will find that there is always something new to view. I'm rarely dissapointed with the vids that I download, and I sometimes come to the forums just to search for more drift vids. . . . Even if it is just some 13 year old taking a S14 around Midfield set to the musical stylings of Disturbed.

Semper Fidelis
Shadow Drifter

P.S. You could always spice up the vids by posting vids of you teaching your friends to drift in real life or just posting some of your own real life drifting, it's worth a shot huh?

When you like something, it will NEVER get old. Because you like it or enjoy doing it.
If it's getting old for you, it's because either you don't like it or you don't enjoy doing it.

It's simple.

I think the GT3 videos are getting old because there aren't that many different cars that Gran Turismo 3 provides for the players to drive/drift. And since many users on the forums have video capture cards now, it seems like they want to share their videos with everyone else. I don't think drifting is getting old, like what xsyorra said in his post: everyone has their own styles. I guess it's hard to see because not many people pay attention to the wheels countersteering or the way the weight is shifted, but there are different ways of drifting out there. I agree that the camera angles are getting pretty boring with the same cars on the same lap, but that should not ruin the spirit of drifting.

The angles of the laps in Gran Turismo 3 repeat every 4 laps if anyone has noticed, and it seems like the angles get very boring after watching car to car taking the same turn with the same camera angle. If you think this is the problem, then everyone should do this: set the replay to the music mode, take out the DVD when the replay is playing, and then chose your own camera angle by pressing X. Then, at least you can chose between color filters and camera angles randomly. By then, the player has the power to chose the camera angle. No more "conformity" in a sense.

Drifting itself is a very old trend, but many people still drift their cars, so does that mean drifting is getting old? Not really, since many citizens of the United States are starting to pay attention to events like the D1GP and the RS*R events. It's growing so fast that there will be more competitions within the next year! In that sense, drifting is not getting old. Watching the videos from these events are different each time, with different cars and different angles. The only element that is in contrast with GT3 is that it's live: it involves real people and real cars/setups. That is why drifting is so moving.

So in response to your question LoudMusic, it s not getting old yet. It's only about 20 years old ;)

And what the hell is YOUR issue? Your girl didnt give you any last night and your gonna take it out on me or what? Ass...

If you are getting bored with drifting, try FF ass-sliding. Or you can learn how to wangan (race-drift for the hicks) or anything else you can think of. Therre are tons of posisiibilitys

No, I'm taking it out on you because you phrased it like drifting is the ONLY form of driving.

Maybe we should move on to twin drifting? :D Thing is we hardly know anybody near us who also does it. Not to mention others would say it'd be 'boring x2', right?

Drifting might be getting old but I like to think that's a normal phenomenon with fads and such.
If GT4 brings more cars to drift, fantastic; if it doesn't, whatever.

In that case, you could say that racing is getting old. You just go around a track over and over again.

I knew someone was going to say that. I knew it. I don't have a responce though. You're right though, to an extent.

Did you read the same post?

Sounds like flaming to me. I don't think you rerad between the lines very well.

:odd: ;)

No I didnt. I think you failed reading comprehension, maybe you should go back and study some more before you go pissing at every1. Anyways.....

My answer is still no. and this thread is still stupid.

It was the obvious response. I personally have no interest in racing OR drifting in GT3 anymore. I'm tired of taking the same cars out on the same tracks and doing the same thing. When GT4 comes out, I probably won't even be drifting until I finish beating the racing portions of the game first. Racing afterall is why I buy Gran Turismo games. Drifting in GT games is just an awesome bonus to me.

I'm speaking for myself here, to me it's just not a phase.. but unfortunately we are going to see alot of you guys... Fashion F%$ks! You are only interested coz everybody else is interested.. like a herd of sheep...

I stick to what said earlier... if you don't have something positive to say about drifting in general... the shut da hell up! Forum is about expressing one's opinion - YES! - but in such a way that it can be a lesson or guidance to others...

So there's nothing more for you to do in GT3 then??? You won all the races, won all the cars (limited editions aswell), drifted them all, have gold in all licences... so, ok you are bored now... right?

I'm not going to waste my time talking about this anymore...

Here is the difference... you get Gamers (true sense of the word) then you get people like you... the bored ones...

Nope huked on fonix wurked 4 me. :D Anyways, to the point. you seem like an ass. Drifting is getting old to me. Drifting s not the only form of driving. You can have a passion for driving and not drifting.

dont know where you got that, cuz I never said it, I love all forms of driving. I've loved driving since before I can remember, and I just now have started getting into drifting, I'm just saying that those with a passion for driving are less prone to get bored of it, as opposed to the posers.

Never said it, eh? Looks like it to me..

you said it! drifting is l33t so if you dont like it just **** off. there is no need for your b*tchin in this thread or any at least on this site. the people who use the drifting topic properly are the ones who love it. Drifting is an art form. you can always improve as no one on this site or any can get every corner perfect drift the whole track every time. im happy if i get half the track done good drifting. any corner that will make a good movie the whole replay gets saved so wen i get an x port i can make movies. you dont get it. its not about what car your in or what color it is or how much power it puts out its about fun. you dont wanna drift anymore thats fine but just keep it to your self dont share your complaints with us the ones who love it for what it is...an art form;)
