I agree on some points that drifting is getting pretty boring in reference to GT3 and watching the same style of vids over and over again. But when you have people like flohting point who make kick ass InitialD mixes and people like Catch My Drift? who make totally cool drifting exhibitions, it makes for a more refreshing experience, yeah it's the same vids just in a different light, but that's what makes the vids different.
When you have ten or more members send in their videos of them taking a 240sx fastback around Trial Mountain sideways and watch them just as they are, you start to get bored around vid 2

But when you say, hey, who can make the cleanest turns, longest drifts, biggest smoke, etc., you take those same exact vids and turn it into something that makes you WANT to watch the next one.
I mean sure, it's almost gotten to the point where you have cliched drifting vids (e.g. a S14 sliding about), where you open the forums and say to yourself,
"Yep, there's another one!"
But, in my opinion, that's what makes the drifting threads so unique, because you rarely if ever hear about a racing thread talking about, "Is Grip Driving Getting Old?" or "Yep, There's Another, F1 or JGTC Completing a 3:30 on the Complex String."
For the most part we are the only vid posters on the forum, with the exception of online racing and a few scampered 400m and time attacks of course, and it's just come to a point that we like showing off our skills so much that it's become repetitive.
I guess in a nutshell, I'm just trying to say that the drift forum is what you make it, if you go in with the mindset:
"Oh well, let me see what drifter wannabe posted a new vid that he/she expects me to download."
Then you are going to begin to hate the threads and you will think that everything is the same and that drifting is getting old and redundant.
But if you go into the forums with my mindset, a mindset like
"Gee, I wonder what new threads/vids are up today, oh, so and so has a new vid, cool let me check it out!"
Then you will find yourself enjoying the forums more and more and you will find that there is always something new to view. I'm rarely dissapointed with the vids that I download, and I sometimes come to the forums just to search for more drift vids. . . . Even if it is just some 13 year old taking a S14 around Midfield set to the musical stylings of Disturbed.

P.S. You could always spice up the vids by posting vids of you teaching your friends to drift in real life or just posting some of your own real life drifting, it's worth a shot huh?
