Is it just me or does GT6 does not seem fun anymore?

The problem i have with GT that has turned me away is the inconsistent nature of it's difficulty. These latest Academy challenges have proved impossible for me to get anywhere near gold where as in the past I have breezed through everything. I have 100% completion on the game itself (pre Senna content) with a platinum trophy so it's not like I'm not dedicated to it or unpracticed at it. Yet if i choose to play in career mode or arcade there is simply no challenge. Every race is of a standard that a 5 year old can do it. Where is the consistency? Due to not being able to achieve gold with the GT3 GTR at Spa I guess that now I will miss out on the prize car as I can't see them putting it in the Nissan Dealership to purchase, like they have done with the Senna content from the start - again, inconsistent. This game is a sham as far as I'm concerned. They can release as much new and special content as they want but while the game has no quality of play it's next to useless.

I agree that the event difficulties of GT6 are quite inconsistent but the consensus seems to be that virtually everything is far too easy, so I'd be more interested in them making the easy events harder than them addressing 'the inconsistent nature' of the difficulty. And I can understand that not winning the NISMO RJN GT3 GT-R would be annoying but I'm glad that not everything's super easy to get, and calling it a sham on that basis seems a bit petulant.

And don't even get me started on the childish 'dirty racing' or '70mph cops' online rooms.

Based on this along with other comments of yours on the gtplanet forums you seem like somebody that pays too much attention to and grows far too frustrated about things that don't affect you. The game is a 3+, and you seem to be annoyed about 'childish' gamers playing it, please have some perspective.

You shooulfe to your friends list so I can follow you to these good rooms. I got lucky on the weekend and found 2 good rooms. One was GT3 cars on RM tires which was fun. Another was stock cars from 350-450 PP on CH-CS tires which was even more fun.

Just filter srf off and search worldwide and run with the japanese.

There's an SRF on?...lol. Japanese are usually sleeping or working when I'm on but I do check rooms worldwide regularly.

I still play it everyday, it's a constantly evolving game so the intrigue over what's coming up next keeps me hooked. Also, trackday bro.
Not really evolving. The game isn't finished yet. So it is more of completing not evolving.

If you're having trouble finding decent Shuffle-Style online lobbies in GT6 for stock car racing on sensible tyres, then this is the club for you.

I don't race online in GT6, don't wanna risk my already ruined win ratio. Which is why I only do free run lobbies. That's one reason I don't like GT6, everything affects the win lose ratio, even arcade races. GT5 was better in that aspect.

There is a game, its name is test drive unlimited. where am i going with this? gran turismo is the true test drive unlimited for me (besides the fact you are limited to closed tracks). I can jump in 1 of over 1200 cars and whiz around a track however i want- fast, slow, controlled or chaotic. Then, i can ram more power into the car of choice and slap some nos on it for fun. I dont really race in this game as i feel its strongest point is the driving itself. granted i do race from time to time but only to earn money to fund my driving. i use a wheel and love the fact that i can drive the car of my dreams like i stole it whenever the mood should strike me.

Perhaps we scrutinize to much, perhaps we need to just enjoy the game for what it is- a game. The biggest mistake PD ever made was calling their game "the real driving simulator". I say this because as soon we don't get pin point accuracy on every last standing detail some of us start pointing fingers... at PD.

Of course the game could do with some improvements, but honestly, i dont have the time or care factor to linger on any shortcomings. its just a game, and a bloody good one that is as fun as ever..👍

It is, but it is still very frustrating with how bad the level design is - I mean the driving situation design - I mean the, um, well the races - BUT IT'S NOT A RACING GAME! No, this is a driving game with 85% of it's driving simply happening during races, which is a relief because otherwise we'd have to admit that one of the the core functionalities of the game is terrible.

GT6 is not fun if you don't have a fast, nice car or when there's no big update to make you want to play it again. I just log-in to GT6 once a day for my log-in bonus for in the future, when there's an update that's big and nice, I can go back to playing GT6 again.

You probably represent the vast majority of GT fans. You don't really care about racing, it only funds your car purchases so any concerns with AI are out the window. You just want to hop in a wide variety of cars and drive, maybe bolt on some parts once in a while for fun. GT is the perfect game for people in your situation because you can overlook it's multitude of flaws. If there were only 8 million more of you still around they'd be in great shape!:D

Spread the word, why would I not want you to do that? I'm sure you really enjoy the game and if you can get others to enjoy it the way you do that's great.

Erm, so? Why would you not play a game to have fun because it risks affecting a pointless, virtual stat?

I'm OCD about offline wins and losses, I like the ratio as close to perfect as possible, for me that's fun, it may be pointless to some but not everyone.

I disagree about the physics, I think they are shockingly poor. Each car that's in the game that I have owned in real life is woefully inaccurate. I always make a point of tuning such cars to the exact original specs' (they are always incorrect on power, weight, torque etc) so I can get a feel of driving my real car in the virtual world on tracks I will never get to drive. The handling balance is shocking, oversteering and losing control at the slightest mistake. For example, my current car, a Mazda RX8 has to be the most balanced and predictably controllable car I have owned, partly due to a low torque figure and partly the finely balanced chassis. Though by no means a powerful car, it has a fair turn of speed but in the game it's a giant killer with immense mid range grunt and a very high top speed. This again is just not true! And then we get to the silly tuning options, the same ones available for each and every car, the ludicrous top speeds they possess and so on and so on. No, this games physics and accuracy are extremely misrepresented.

I agree that a fair amount of cars seem to have the power or some other factor modelled wrong, normally they are faster or have more grunt than they should & that is without the totally pointless oil change.
However most of the handling models seem consistent with cars I have driven in RL, at least to the point they let go.
For me this is the issue the handling characteristics seem to be magnified at this point meaning many cars "snap" in an unrealistic & very uncontrollable manor.
In RL you would not drive some cars as portrayed in GT because they need to be driven so smoothly. Unplanned manoeuvres like avoiding an accident are impossible as they would just lead to you having one of your own.

I too own an RX8 type S 6 Spd manual. I thought the handling physics were 85-90% accurate The top speed is correct from memory. IRL Late night highway run 248kph. in game i think its somewhat similar from memory. however you are correct in terms of the way it pulls through the rev range this is some unreal BS.

But i must agree best handling car ive ever driven. Even jeremy clarkson said it was the best car he had driven that year and he drives some awesome cars so that says a lot.

I enjoy it is even though I cannot get gold. Online ranking more often than not than I am behind 50k mark but its ok. This is just a game and some people are simply good and setting up the car etc. That does not mean you suck you are better than probably 100k even if you can make to 50k. The game is purchased by million so overall you can still be in top10% or so.

I take enjoyment out of tuning then re-tuning all of my cars. Occasionally grinding for more upgrade money. It's just about the only thing I enjoy doing now. :(

I opened a lobby on Saturday night for a maximum of 14 people. The room was full within 20 minutes! We had several hours of awesome & clean Shuffle style racing, with many races having 13 players out on track. It was just like the good ole days in GT5. I Can't Believe It's Not Shuffle!

I would say it's still possible to have fun in GT6. In fact, I had lots of fun as well on Sunday watching the replays I'd saved. Watching myself race is the best thing on TV! :D

👍

Yall know this thread is old right.... I'm not that upset about GT6 anymore.
Also I don't race online. Win percentage, ocd, etc.

A lot can happen in 8 days, plus the recent developments in GT and getting the Lotus have revived my interest in GT a little.

I still get plenty of enjoyement from the game and I don't play online except with some local players that I know in real life.

I've never thought of myself as being one of these gifted Gran Turismo players, although I did eventually manage to Gold all of the Senna events as well as won the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 Team RJN '13 from golding the Final round of GT Academy. I've also achieved platinum on GT6 and am 2 trophies short of platinum on GT5 (I still have much respect for those who have golded those Red Bull events in GT5. I still find them impossible..GT6 is child's play in comparisson). Dunno if those achievements give me more of an elite status, but there you have it.

I'm not competitive by nature except against myself. I like hot lapping where it's me & the car vs. the track. Finding that perfect line is a much better feeling for me than winning a race.

I'm also a bit of a car nut and I just enjoy collecting the cars, trying them out and tuning them. I've been having emmense fun lately with tuning the Lotus Europas, because those cars are simply undriveable in stock form. Play with the weight distribution and suspension and they become a lot of fun.
