Is it me, or is Adele Overrated?Music

If I had Moderator powers I would ban you from the music section. Adele and 30STM are not even close to the same. Wow.

1) I haven't violated the AUP.
2) Its called opinion.
3) Opinion is highly reccomended to be respected.
4) I could say the same thing towards you.
5) Quoting something once is sufficient.
6) Listen to it. Doesn't it sound like 30STM even the slightest bit? I didn's say they were identical or anything. Listen closely to the vocals and how they're presented/ track structure/ organization.

I would ban you both :)

I definitely think Adele is overplayed, but overrated is definitely a stretch. She's a fantastic singer, and her music is good. It's not my cup of tea, but it's definitely good stuff.

It was a joke. Relax grasshopper.

Thanks, but I really wanted to add some flair.

You have a small point in the limited sample of those two songs you mentioned, but both Adele and 30 Seconds to Mars are acts who's songs are not even like themselves. Comparing Rolling in the Deep to Someone Like You is just as much apples and oranges as the comparison between From Yesterday and Attack.

Adele and 30 Seconds to Mars are wildly different.

She's overrated and her songs are overplayed on the radio but I don't know why, I actually enjoyed her songs... 'Set Fire To The Rain' is one of them that has a good meaning and one that I really like.

I like Adele. In some ways she could be a little over-rated, but she has a killer voice, and deserves what she's portrayed to be.

As for people saying she sings flat, especially in her song "Someone Like You"...well that's just plain wrong. The semi-tone offnotes is a variation of the tune, to make it more interesting. It's intentional, and anyone who knows the slightest about singing and music would know that.

I like all styles of music. I listen to everything from AC/DC to Shaina Twain, from Snow Patrol, to Tommy Emmanuel, to Celine Dion. I'll listen to everything, since it's music, as Prosthetic pointed out. The only stuff I don't listen to is 🤬 like this:

(Warning, may be disturbing to some)
This is not music. This is random 🤬 put in 3 minutes of torture to look like music.

Just my 20c that no one will probably reply to.

She's totally overrated in my opinion, espically in Australia because the rolling in the deep song was used for every ad of a tv show here called Underbelly, which in turn, ruined it for me 👎

 This last bit couldn't be more misleading. It is music, and you'd be shocked at how talented musicians in this band and the genre in general are. CC are no exception, everyone in the band has extensive music knowledge, and more caught up on music history/theory then bands 30 years ago and play arrangements a thousand times more complex then 90% of bands in history. They don't do dumb freaking breakdowns that every deathcore band in existence do. Not to mention CC have a phenomenal front man something that most bands lack.

This doesn't even belong in this thread, these guys have been playing longer then Adele has been alive.

To be honest, I kind of agree.

People in my school talk about how she is so "special", but I find nothing "special" on her flat voice. In my honest opinion, of course. The only thing I can think of that makes her stand out is that she doesn't sound as bad as other musicians in the Top 40 these days. She has, a normal voice, but other musicians in my opinion have horrible voice. So she gains a +1 for that.

EDIT - Wait, I think I just wasted my 400th post on a singer that I don't like. :grumpy:

Only on GTPlanet would there be a discussion comparing Adele to 30 Seconds to Mars to Yngwie Malmsteen.
