Is it possible to do a "not to buy a car" run?

So I have started playing GT4 again, and when I was playing it I was thinking if it would be possible to beat the game by not buying cars and only use the winning cars.
Well of course not it will not work, Most of the one maker races I think you need to buy a car. But I wonder how far you to can complete the game with not buying a single car.

You need to purchase 32 cars in order to complete the game.

If I remember correctly. You can get by most races with the prize cars that you can win from the licences and the contests. But others will require you to purchase a car to complete the races in question.
