Is it risky to have my G27 internals exposed?

I know that in the manufacturing process of a control board, it's catastrophic for dust particles to get into the board. They are sealed after production, right? My clamps snapped so I took he top half on the base off and I'm using C-clamps to hold it down. Problem is that unless I cut the rods off the c-clamps, the top won't fit back on which leaves everything exposed.

I can't really answer your question, but derek spears makes new clamps for the logitech wheels, they are exactly the same and you just through them in there. Take a look at his site for more info.

Dust can cause shortcuts in the electrical system. However, if it's not a bad dust buildup then it's not that terminal. heh

If you don't let it become this bad and blow out the dust from time to time it's alright.

Oh my, that picture is bananas, I can't help think that I breathe that in too! Luckily we have nose hairs to collect all that.

If it is exposed, you can see it often, so just keep it clean and maintained and it should work as usual.

Well, I cut out the bottom half where the cover goes over the steering column so it could slide over the top. Instead of cutting the c-clamps, I jut cut the two screw holes that stick out on the inside off, then cut out the circular extensions inside where the clamp screws tops go. Once I shaved those down flush the clamps fit inside almost perfectly. The top sits over evertything with an extremely small gap at the front. Pretty much perfect except my warranty for down the toilet pretty quick.

So that is what explains my pedal problem with my DFGT. Problem is, how do I get the dust out after it has been assembled and produced  ?

Pop it open. This video explains how.

Thank you for the video but I do want to avoid voiding the warranty if possible but as a last resort I guess I'll have to try this with the gas and brake pedals since both of them are twitching.

But I think I know why. When I press the gas pedal, I noticed that the pedal base, very slightly, flexes a little and I think that the tachometer and springs move out of place. I can also stop this by pressing really hard on the base with both hands (which moves them back into place until I press the pedals again). Cheap plastic :( .

I don't recall removing some sort of sticker or something alike, so I don't think the warranty will be void per se. Just take care and make sure you're not leaving any marks inside / on the screws and you should be fine. :)

Plus the pedals feel a lot better once the springs have been adjusted, promised.

I guess I'll have to try out the pedal mod then if it doesn't void warranty (as long as you are careful) . I'll try and do it later and I'll report back on how it went :)👍 .

If it was still under warranty why didnt you return it?

I contacted Logitech and the told me the warranty only covers parts that make the steering wheel itself function, not the clamps that simply hold it in place.

Couldn't Logitech just send you new clamps if you already contacted them? :dunce:

Wow really! I did not know that. That is a huge load of ********

If they just sent me new clamps I'd have to take the wheel apart to replace them, which would then void my warranty. I'd also run the risk of snapping the new clamps as well. It was much easier to just use c-clamps and mod the inside of the case a bit to fit over them.

Now you're contradicting yourself here. You can't take the wheel apart cause of warranty but you will to fit some c-clamps by modding the inside of it? Like that won't void warranty. :ouch:

I knew I'd void the warranty either way. I chose to go with the c-clamps since they won't snap and will hold it in place much better.
