I don't have a job? I mean, its almost middle of the summer and I still have an application form unfilled out. Is it sad? Just wondering.

I've filled out a application at my local grocery store about a month ago and they haven't called me yet. So, I'm gonna be jobless this summer. So, i'm along with ya Kosmik.

It depends. Im 16 and a half and I've had a job for about 6 months. With this job I have bought myself a a fairly nice first car which is a 1993 mercury sable (fully loaded :p) for $1,000 and paid for 500 dollars worth of brake work and 250 dollars worth of exaust system work (muffler, tail pipe, ect) while simultaneously paying car insurance. I also work at most 4 days a week but mostly just 2 days a week at Dunkin Donuts and my shift is only 4 hours making $6.75 an hour with tips.

It would help to be persistent.
Fill out all kinds of applications.

It took me six, I think.

Go up to the store, ask to speak to a manager and ask about the status of your application. Hint: They never call. You need to be persistant if you really want the job.

I didn't have a job till, well, March 2004.

Then again, it was worth the wait, I have a totally awsome job.

Well, yes it is sad. Me too. Middle of summer and no job. Hmm time to go out and get some.

Someone can have my job...I've been here over a year and starting to get sick of it!!
Attila_Da_Hun nice job on affording your car with only 2 shifts a week, I give ya credit for that one, I hope to be buying a car also possibly after the summer!

Once again, I'm working for the man this summer. I work at a party supply store.

Get off your lazy asses and find a job. Even if you have to join the fast food industry's workforce.

While it isn't great, I'm currently starting a job working at Ruby Tuesday as a Server/Host. At least I can say I wasn't lazy all summer long. I think I filled out around 10 applications and only two places I put them in actually bothered to call for an interview. One was a bookstore and the other being Ruby Tuesday.

It's really not that bad so far but I have to learn so many things.

Just do what I did and ask for applications from any store you can think of. I didn't have a whole lot of work experience and I was hired for my very first job.

I dont have a real job yet, I filled out an application for Eckerds Pharmacy, but they havent called back in 2 weeks. I dont think I want to work there anyways.

Right now Im helping out at my moms buisness every once in a while. Its right next to the skatepark, so its not that bad. The skatepark is crap, though.

Ill probably get a job with my friend at Sonic, his sister-in-law is the manager/ future owner.

I got a job without calling, though. They were very desperate. I think they were impressed that I replyed online. :)

it is sad for both of us, as I dont have a job either -__-

well, i couldnt really get a job, i have to watch my sisters for 2 or 3 hours in the middle of the day when both my parents are working, i get payed about $10 a day, which isnt bad because because there are days where I dont have to watch them (my dad gets home early sometimes) and i still get paid, so i'm not going to complain. I'd really like a job at my hobby shop. I've spent upwards of $1500 there and they know when it comes to rc's I know my stuff. They hired some chick who could barely remeber part #'s to get off the wall...so i'm really hoping i can get hired..i want parts discounts :). Being 15 i'm too young to work behind the counter untill next year. But since it's in the next town, my parents will both be busy during the day so theres really not a way I could get myself there and back

I've been working since my mid-15s. I've been at my current job for two years in August. So to answer you question, yes. Get up you lazy bastard. :)

Attila: Isn't there just a good amount of pride knowing YOUR paying for you car and not your parents?

I have a job, it's called getting paid on a chore by chore basis, working wonders for my pocket and the housecare.

I have a job, I make people fat.

We have a new promotion right now, if anyone wants to know. You get these Spider-Man game pieces with any large size or bigger purchases. Scratch off the hidden message and you might win something.

Have you tried looking in the classified section of your local newspaper for job listings, Kosmik?

I'm not saying I'm having trouble finding one, I'm saying that I just don't have one. And what I meant by not having an application form filled out is that I have an application form for a skate shop, I just haven't filled it out. But I got offered a job by another skate/surf shop, which I prefer. So I just have to get off my ass and actually go for it.

Jesus-Squeezus I'm lazy.

I'm the sad one.

I am 21 years old, never owned a car, do not have any friends, have never had a job, have no income at all and $200 to last me until whenever, i hardly ever go outside, i buy mostly junk food when i go shopping (never excercise yet i'm only about 68 kg's), never had a girlfirend, still live with Mum, have basically no money, i'm getting more and more depressed (lack of a better word) every year (i've declined counselling even though people have recommended it to me numerous times - i don't think it will help at all), thought about suicide (moreso over the last year) but it will never happen as i simply do not have the guts to do it and i really can't hurt my family like that, and the worst thing of all is that no matter how many people suggest things or try to help - i just don't have the motivation to do anything about all this.

Anyone here by chance worse than that?

Nope, that beats me

Im in a job I dislike though ATM, always looking for something better

MM: Keep ya chin up mate:)

I filled out an app, turned it in, and when i went to see what the status was, i didnt get the job only because a brother of someone who worked there got the job instead of me.

It's like that here and I guess just about everywhere, A case of who you know (blow) rather than what you know
