Is it worth getting a wheel?
Because currently I'm using the sixaxis controller (button meshing for accelerate and braking, analogue stick for turning, like I have since i first got GT2). And i've heard you can drive faster with a wheel.
If it is better can you suggest to me a wheel to use, and tell me what other things I need (I'm 14 so don't suggest anything that's rediculously priced)

I'm 14 too. I couldn't afford a G25, so I settled for a DFGT. A lot cheaper and still a fantastic wheel.👍 It's definetely worth getting a wheel, not only can you go faster and be more precise, it feels like you're driving a car and not just playing a video game. It's definetely worth it.

I would definitely recommend getting a wheel, if your going to get one, make sure you get a decent one with good support. Usually that means a logitech the DFGT if good value for money, I have the G25 which is great but a fair bit of money.

I would recommend the Logitech DFGT. 👍

Definitely worth it, no question. I have a G25 but if money is an issue the DFGT is great too.

Its worth it 100%. You can find a DFP for the same or lesser price then a DS3, or you can find a DFGT for a few more dollars then a DS3. They're not that expensive.

Advantages to a wheel

+ Your fingers won't be sore after long drives
+ It makes the game feel more real
+ You have greater control over the car
+ You will eventually turn in faster and more consistent lap times

Disadvantages to having a wheel

- You may be a little bit slower at first
- You have to have a table or something to set it on

I agree with what mad94d has said! Plus with a wheel it is a load more fun! If you have already completed Prologue, it's like starting a new game with the wheel! Also i'm not fourteen like mad, i'm 60. Have fun with the wheel if you get one!

EDITED due to Vipers message.. I did sound a bit like I was working for Fanatec ;)

But Yeah a wheel will add tons of game play hours and more simulation. But It takes few weeks to improve your lap times over the pad.. it took long time for me to improve my.

Get a wheel!

Cough Cough Fanatec Carrera wheel cough

You should apply for a job at Fanatec, seriously........

Then those guys should apply for a job in Logitech..

I am mentioning, more bang for the buck..

seriously

its good to let people know about cheap and best wheels.. Logitech is not the only wheel on the market.

But hey Dont mind me.. I look like a walking billboard.

Well, I don't want to wait a month+ (more like 2 weeks, when cricket season starts, i score for it and get £50 a week through it) So I've decided to go for the DF GT

Soon you will enjoy the best thing for the game. For me GT5P offers one of the best Force Feedbacks and you will love it.. at the same time you will hate yourself for not getting a wheel sooner ;)

I'm 25 and couldnt afford a G25 and a AK-200 Precise Racing Chair... so I asked Santa, and boy did he come through. whooo hooo, controllers SUCK!!! Thats the only wheel I have used but I would definately reccomend it. My chair might be a little excessive, but it comes apart and turns into a rocking chair! Plus it is was less invasive and less expensive than a Playseat. So what im saying is, hope for a X-mas in April.

Damn my english.

I see that a wheel is a lot better, but is the game any good if you don't have a steering wheel ? Like, I don't want to buy a game that sucks if i don't pay like 200 $ for a racing wheel.

BUT TO GET THINGS CLEAR, I wanted to know, is it worth it to buy the game if I don't have a racing wheel ?
O well, if the wheel is that important, I'll go rob my neighbor, he has a pretty darn good racing wheel which he uses to play ~ 6 year old games.

The game is still definitely worth buying without wheel. I enjoyed it thoroughly for nearly a year without a wheel, just like I enjoyed all other 4 Gran Turismo games that way for over a decade. The wheel just takes it onto an amazing level.

All the best

OK. You can play the game with a sixaxis (I do...), but a wheel is a lot better. Whenever I want good racing, I go to my friend's house. He has 2 DFGTs, which makes for some seriously good racing. GET A WHEEL!!! I'm saving up for one.

Will Logitech MOMO Racing Force be good enough ? It's hell of a lot cheaper than the DFGT and it has a set of pedals, so that's good, right ? I am so not an expert at these things.

Well, I cannot stress getting a wheel enough. If you don't have enough money to buy a G25, there'll always be an alternative.

Definitely, definitely, definitely get a wheel. No matter which one. If you have the money definitely get a G25 or Turbo Wheel, they add so much.

I have a G25 and the addition of clutch kicks and shift locks adds a huge dynamic to the game - plus with the H-pattern is sweet.

With a wheel you will have more precise handling under braking and the wheel will allow you to be smoother. The smoother you can be the better your lap times.

For me having a wheel isn't about the lap times it's about the fun factor 👍 Believe me having a wheel is so much for fun.

If I were to add something to this, which it seems I am, I'd recommend getting a wheel with a full complement of buttons for maximum compatibility with other wheel-supporting games.

I got Midnight Club LA recently and it doesn't support my wheel, the Logitech GT Force, which is a great shame as I've found the arcade-type games are also much more engaging with a wheel.
