For all of those telling him to wait, if you own GT6 right now, just sell him your copy cheap and move along.
If you wait, all of us will have six months of experience with the new driving physics and you will lose a lot of online races while you're trying to catch up with the hours of seat time that all of us Day oners will have. If you love racing games, have a true passion for it, buy it today.
A most valid point.
Will you be going Online to play?
When I played GT5, I played strictly Offline, wanting to not only test out GT5 as an Offline game, but also wanting to find out if the game was playable 'as is'. It was. I had also assumed that there would eventually be an 'Update Disc' (there was : XL) and I wanted to refresh the game completely before I moved on.
When I reached levels 35+ on both A-Spec and B-Spec and the game had reached Version 2.14, I threw in XL and discovered that the game had improved tremendously; it was a shock to realise the difference. It was also a pleasant experience to have an almost 'new' game, yet with all the cars and other stuff that one needed to acquire already in place. The update via XL took me less than hour . This is all detailed in another thread (one that I have shamefully neglected, but I hope to detail the experience there soon.)
Because I never played Online this didn't hurt me - though I missed all the Online fun, as Keith pointed out, and the experiences that went with it.
Also - any tunes, etc, that I could have used from updated players were of no use to me, since the updated game was different because of the continually upgraded physics, etc.
But
how 'Online' is GT6? Very.
Because I felt this even before GT6 was released, I
preordered the game. I was the first in the shop to pick it up - and I had made time that day to run back home immediately and start playing. This way I had also taken advantage of the price point and the bonus cars given to 'early birds' right away. And I'm already taking advantage of the Online pleasures from 'laser duels', and the other tidbits served up almost daily.
Online or Offline? That would be a factor in your decision, too.
And as I mentioned - GT6 seems to be very much an Online game.
