Is Leveling Really Necessary?

I got to level 30 in both A and B Spec and stopped. I kinda lost all enthusiasm for getting to 40/40, since I really don't see a need to, unless to be a point of pride.

I'm level 37 A-Spec and level 38 B-Spec, I've never grinded or anything like that, I remote race a little on B-Spec but other than that, nothing, I did one of the High xp races in seasonal events and got something like 200,000 xp from it. I still have the 24 hour to do, so thats some xp still to come my way and the fgt championship. I don't get where I've managed to get all the way to these levels without grinding, where others complain when they're in the 20's. I've not repeated events either or played online. I've golded all specials and licences, maybe thats it?? PD geared the levelling towards getting the gold standard trophy??

I here you on this one man. I have already been into the 30s on 3 different PSN accounts and I don't see the point of going higher, and it usually only takes a few weeks. I really don't like this leveling system, the license requirements were much more appropriate.

And as far as money goes, the seasonal races provide far more money in a very short amount of time. They are also incredibly more entertaining than the races for 35+. My biggest turnoff of this leveling system...grinding xp on endurance races...just to reach the top level. It just seems unreasonable.

I hate it, simply hate it. Just have events that require certain cars, actually make them more and more difficult, requiring more and more ACTUAL skill, rather than some arbitrary number which only reflects how insanely dedicated you are to playing the game...

This. The thing that annoys me the most is that there are people who are on level 40 since ages just because they cheated or were grinding a lot and think that they got skills just because of they are at that level.
I'm playing GT5 since Dec '09 and I'm on level 38 A-Spec now, but I don't care much about getting on a higher level any more. Only thing I'd like to be level 40 for is the gold trophy.
Sometimes I'm grinding though, because I need some money to buy cars. I always prefer the money over the XP though, so if I have the choice between two races and I get quicker money in the one and more XP in the other, I take the money. Reason is simply:
Credits reward me in GT5, XP not.

Edit: Sorry, didn't notice this is a very old thread, I got here through a signature. Please don't kill me for posting in such an old thread... :scared:

No, levels in this game have no purpose, the license tests were enough, and really a good indicator, if you couldn't do them, you couldn't compete.
I didn't bother with leveling, it was just the money that i needed, so i grinded anyway, i never did grind for xp.

Not only is leveling frustrating and time consuming, but it also renders the whole license aspect of the game useless. I have no choice but to level, but I haven't even touched the license tests because they are useless to the progression in the game.

The aspect of licensing actually angers me concerning this 'driving simulation'. In the real world, if I have a pocket full of cash, I can walk into any dealership and buy a car. I am not told 'No, you are not experienced enough to own this car. Come back later."

I can agree, what's the point of having a license with leveling? I wish they stuck to the older GT style in that aspect.

Never been big on the leveling system...but it never really bothered me either. But then again, I started playing when gt5 first came out. That being said, one big issue with the leveling system is the cars you cant buy and the races you cant race. Well, in the original gt5, it was difficult to make money. So, buying higher end cars wasn't even possible even w/o a restriction like the older GTs. Since you couldn't buy high end cars, you couldn't race better races anyways. It was a vicious circle for a while. It was a good challenge though which is what most strive for anyways. I have a love and hate relationship with the license tests that the older games depended on. I loved them because it was a challenge and was tradition for GT. But, I hated it because sometimes you ended up grinding the hell out of a couple on the tests. Which got REALLY old really quick.

Because theres really no point in doing the endurance races. The payouts are lame, the prize cars are lame, and theres literally zero incentive to get to level 40.

I'd say its the norm to start racing online around level 30 since aspec mode is pretty much done.

I liked it before levelling when licenses actually meant something, but it'll be much better now with endurance race saves.

To actually use the license system would be great. I'm still levelling (when I have the time) because I want to do the 24 of Nürburgring. Fortunately there's the 4h of Nürburgring which is really nice with the right car.

The levelling system in B-spec makes more sense, it would probably be hard to have a license system for the AI.

PS: Where can I find an Elise to drive in the Top Gear Challenge that doesn't have wet ice for tires??? :)

The Elise is like a small LMP car, you have to be careful on the throttle :)

I remember jumping to level 25 within an hour just by doing seasonal races on a new account. Unfortunately it takes way to long to level later on and you aren't really rewarded for it. The amount of grinding is ridiculous.
