Just as the title says.., is PD going to fix the Arcade Mode in this game? There are still some issue with it. For those of us who don't race online, have gotten bored with A Spec, Burned out on Seasonals, and just want to race off line essentially have Arcade Mode.

1- Ai vehicle selection is still jacked up. Simply upgrading your vehicle to MATCH the current line up always results in the game wiping out that selection, and constantly bumping everything UP rather than level the field.

2- Ai vehicle behavior in Arcade is disgraceful (smash, bash, crash, smash, rinse and repeat)

3- What's with all the freakin Rally cars showing up in the Ai line up for the circuits? Nothing more annoying than racing with a Vintage Chevy Camero SS, and finding yourself getting smoked by the group B rally car that (WAS) way behind you.

4- Difficulty levels when (combined with the jacked up Ai selection) always results in you getting SMOKED on the straights. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PICK CURVY TRACKS TO AVOID THIS PD. We should be able to race on whatever track we want without dealing with this.

5- Why is there not an option for Single Manufactuer races?

The A/B/C difficulty levels should be eliminated and they should just bring back the "difficulty slider" that was in GT4.

I really hope they fix the Arcade Mode. Not all of us race online, some of us (myself included) have NO interest in B Spec, and A Spec is light on events. We need a decent Arcade Mode.

I don't think anyone knows except PD. Or at least I hope PD knows. lol.

Maybe it doesn't always happen with all cars, but I've brought stock cars to arcade mode with SRF disabled, Difficulty at pro, damage on heavy, and won. I think your problem is that there aren't enough laps. On Pro, it can take 15 minutes to catch up to 1st place. Remember, racing in GT5 isn't all about racing for 2 laps. It's expected that you race many.

Can't you do the one make races on the practice screen in GT mode?

Sort of, no matter what I've tried it always ends up as single model. I really loved the "trackday" feel to the AMG special events for that reason alone, and would really like to be able to do something like that with Ford etc, but try as I might I just end up with a full grid of whatever car you take into the event.

That's what I do. I always race LOTS of laps, and I keep the cars as close to stock as possible. Personally I cannot stand 2-3 lap sprint races that you often find in career modes. However.., with the Arcade Mode in this game you have to not only run a lot of laps..., but pick the curvy tracks if you want the field to be level. Once you hit the straights so many cars (that shouldn't) catch right back up and close impossible time gaps.

You're right. I forgot about the single make races under Practice Mode. Still I'd prefer it in the Arcade Mode so you can up the difficulty and run against 15 Ai vehicles.

I'm still waiting for them to give you the option to choose your own competitors. I would never touch GT Life again if I could do that.

Can you give an example of a race that takes 15 min to catch the leader? Tires?

It was using the Mercedes evolution II 16 that you win for getting all silvers in the AMG challenges. I took it straight to Nurburgring type V which I unlocked at the same time I got that car. I was surprised how long it took me to catch up. You'll see...

OK, gonna try. AI is using Sports Softs even when you have sports hards on, no wonder why it might take so long.

It took me half a lap to chase the first place down with that Merc on hard sports. But it does feel unfair, they all have the edge, sports soft, way more power, etc, yet the races are the same. But I don't imagine having a fair race in La Sarthe, they would smoke you, as OP states.

I'm also thinking that they should fix that.

I want an arcade mode like GT4

1. Pick your race type
2. Pick your manufacturer and vehicle ( Out of a selection of nearly all cars in the game that are unlocked )
3. Pick your track
4. Select difficulty

Done.

Not sure if this is relevant to this thread at all but am I the only the one to think that arcade mode is wasted disk space? I've never used arcade mode from I got GT5, everything thats in there can be done in GT Life or else online so I don't see the point.

Actually I've used once to get the Nurburg trophy but apart from that :/

Didn't they have a difficulty slider in GT5P?

I remember picking high level opponents in the 90s and 100 range and having decent races.

Didn't play prologue, did try the HD one that was on the store early on

It's absolutely NOT a waste of space. There are also some inaccuracies in what you've stated.

1- No..., the same thing cannot be done in GT life. You have to stick to the restrictions of the events such as predetermined race settings that you CANNOT change.

2- There are NO difficulty settings within GT life.

The whole point of Arcade Mode is to choose a track that YOU want, the number of laps YOU want, the difficulty setting YOU want. It's to have CONTROL over your OWN race.

A Spec in this game is so boring it's not even funny.., not to mention how limited the events are in number. Not everyone races online and this should NOT be a requirement to get enjoyment out of a racing title. A good OFFLINE set up is needed for those who don't race online.

The previous poster showed an excellent example when he tried the event suggested by another. The AI had the advantage in power, and tires. The problem is if you make even MINUTE upgrades to match the AI the system will always set you at the disadvantage.

You really need to address your questions to PD, I really dont know how anyone on here would know.

Yes.., Prologue had the difficulty slider. I don't know why they dropped this feature and went with A/B/C difficulty settings. All of the difficulty settings in Arcade Mode put you at a disadvantage.

It would certainly be nice to have access to at least all the Premiums for Arcade Mode. It seems that Arcade Mode only works best if you choose from the vehicles they have selected.

It's just as jacked up in the One Make Races too. You can take a stock vehicle in a One Make Race and still get smoked on straights by the AI who are SUPPOSED to be driving in the exact same vehicles. It's simply MAJOR AI RUBBER-BANDING.

I just did a 6 lap race at Grand Valley Speedway using a stock Nissan March (Premium). Off the start everything went well..., and I took first on the grid within the first half lap. Then suddenly BOING BOING BOING. It was like there was a giant rubberband attached from my rear bumper to every car behind me. In many turns it was almost like the AI didn't even hit their freakin brakes. On the straights (when I had a good lead) the lot just zipped right up and closed an impossible time gap.

It's just lazy programing. PD needs to clean it up. I don't race online and there are TONS of us who don't race online. For me.., any game that does't have a decent offline mode is worthless in my set up. If it doesn't have a good career mode with a lot of events..., it reduces the game (for me) to nothing but a Time Trial title.

You are kidding, right? The AI is a bit more challenging now and tries to fight back. And there's always setting 'C' for the Christian driver.

What.., fight back.., are YOU the one kidding? There's a very fine line between "fighting back" and flat out "AI cheating". Last time I checked rubber-banding AI wasn't considered the "acceptable challenge".

The Arcade Mode appears to only work PROPERLY when you use a vehicle that PD has selected in the Arcade selection. That's NOT how it's supposed to work.

May I ask a simple question?

I can't play online, and I don't have access to the game's updates. That is, I play GT5 as it first came out.

Is there a way to race against different cars while using a car (R33 GT-R, for example) in Arcade Mode? I noticed GT Life is very limited in this aspect. The practice mode in GT Life doesn't help either (one-make race or nothing). And in Arcade Mode, whatever difficulty I choose, the field remains the same. Even if I exit and enter again, the field is pretty much the same. It's pretty annoying not to have a little variety in the races.

From what I have read so far in this thread, I really can't do anything but sit and play something else. After I completed the A-Spec events in GT4, I would spend my time racing in Family Cups.

EDIT: +1 for Toronado for choosing own competitors. Even more, choosing competitors from your own garage would be sweet. :D

Huh? I have found no AI that actually reacts to you. If you mean fight back by staying on a line even if you have overtaken them, and hitting you in a corner, then....ok I guess. But they seem more to me like trollies in San Fransisco that follow the tracks no matter where you are.

You really want to see that race go to crap on you. Take that same car.., upgrade to Sports Soft, and add a very simple upgrade (such as an air filter) just for a minute jump in HP. Go back into the same race and see if the AI stays the same or the majority of the grid gets wiped and replaced with cars that are still yet more powerful than yours. This is the issue I keep running into. You can never really MATCH the AI or upgrade close enough to be competitive by PP number. The system always places you at a disadvantage. This is why I say PD should bring back the damn difficulty slider. It was in GT-4 and Prologue. They never should have removed this and replaced it with a rubber-banding cheating AI system.
