It seems to me recently that there really hasnt been any great new media or screenshots or anything. I have a sneaking suspicion that PD has some secret about GT4 that hasnt been released yet, something like a huge graphical upgrade or something like that. There has got to be a new build of GT4 that none of us have seen yet that will blow us away.

Has anyone else been thinking this as well?

I doubt there's another build. The latest build was shown at E3 and I have heard from people who have played it that is outclasses gt4p in graphics. The reflections are alot better, the crowds look better, not 3d yet and there aren't noticable jaggies like gt4p has. Everything is alot smoother. If PD is hiding anything, it's the pitcrew. I want to see the pitcrew ingame.

Nope, I've just been thinking, E3 was not too long ago and quite a lot of cars were uveiled there as was the ring and the photo mode.

But where does it say that the E3 build is the one that will be used in the final game? Couldn't PD have started GT4 on the GT3 engine, get all the cars and tracks on that build, and then transfer all that info to the GT4 build??? (that is a question, since I know nothing about making a video game)

Yes, gt4 at last year's e3 had the gt3 engine. I believe gt4p showed the old gt4 build. The build shown at E3 is the latest, but I bet you know that. I believe pd will make some tweaks to the latest build instead of making a new one. If you ask me, the latest build is good enough for me. The graphics are perfect for me, not alot of jaggies like gt4p and it's smoother.

We got enough. But I wouldn't mind a couple more videos.
I agree with that. You know, if PD really wanted to get our blood pumping for gt4 they should have a vid of a 3 lap race on the nurb, have the bmw lmr vs the CLK-LM vs the latest C60 Evo(the white one, not the green one) vs the GT one car vs the R89C vs the 787b car. Imagine seeing that!! That would be so cool.

All the extra time the game is taking is most likely due to the online component, since the screenshots, & vids show the game's basics looking pretty complete and there hasn't been much seen about the online stuff.

Personally I think it will be crap online since a lot of it will depend on the people who you compete with, & the game would be better if all the effort was put into another 100 + cars or better AI.

the people who will be coding the online will not be the same people who model the cars and AI, not putting the people working on the online on the online will not mean more cars or better AI.

That's a load of bollocks, GT4:P was basically last years E3 demo with some extra stuff (licences, different cars, options) tacked on. I spent about 2+ hours playing the E3 GT4 demo at the Playstation experience last year and there was no difference (Physics and graphics) between the demo and GT4:P. It even had the same slowdown issues in New York and the wierd dodgy texture going missing thingy at certain points in Citta.

I didn't know that. Thxs for proving me wrong but not in a negative way. lol That makes sense I guess. Are you going to the playstation experience this year and if so, when is it? I want some gt4 media :D

The online component will take up space on the dvd.

Actaully I hadn't thought of that, it was late August last year I think. I'll probably go if I can get a bunch of mates to go like we did last year. But I don't think there will be anything new, i'd probably just get to play a newer E3 demo. Which sounds like a good idea anyway. :D

It will more than likely a double DVD job, like GT2.

Took the words rite of my keyboard :)

Whatever the state of the game at the moment........rest assured that it will be amazing in every way when it comes out!.........I think PD is holding back alot and they will release information the same speed as they have done so far to keep people in suspence (what it actually doing is pissing people off and making them get fed up).....PD sould release loads more info! We usually find it out before PD release it (the find of the paris track vid on prologue.....)

I think that the recient build of GT4 at E3 looked great visually......but the AI still is rubbish and more needs to be done with the new car physics engine!

........Was playing ancient Toca Race Driver today.....thought the AI was quite impressive and agressive!

Think it will be one dual layered or dual sided DVD.....just to make the game look like its breaking the boundaries of disk technology + I think it has been said somewhere.........GTA SA will be one dual layer disk.

Yes, San Andreas is definately a dual layered disk. They say it's 3 times the size of Vice City, which is twice the size of Liberty City. This means that it's six times the size of LC. My point: If they can fit a city that is SIX times the size of LC, PLUS around 6 hours of high quality (and funny) radio, I'm almost positive that they would be able to fit GT4 onto a dual-layered DVD disk. Plus it would have the super-cool "Dual-Layered" logo on the front of the packaging and disk. Nice and shiny. :D

-Like cobragt said: a vid of the ring is needed. The last vid that was released is the Paris vid.We need more stuff. PD is leaving us in the dark. i know E3 wasn't that long ago but we should still be seeing some more stuff out of PD. Seriously, how hard would it be to release a nurb vid???

I'm sticking to my theory of GT4 being 2 dual layered DVDs. Why? It's going to be huge! Online will take a whole DVD (or will be mixed up with Arcade), and Sim & Arcade on the other one.

The TGS (Tokyo Game Show) is comming in September no? There will have to be some GT4 stuff there. At least revealing another track and a new line-up of 10-20 cars...

When you think about it, there isn't really a lot of official info. I mean, we're only 4 months away from release, and I have enough room on my hands to count all the officially announced tracks. And with a hundred promised, they've either got a LOT of work to do in 4 months, or they just aren't telling us anything. We also only know about half of the car list, we're pretty much in the dark about online, we know very little about what kind of tuning options we can expect over GT3, we still don't know exactly what the "paint shop" is, or "parking," or a number of other things suggested at E3, we know little about weather conditions....With four months to go on such a massive project as this, you'd think they would have more information to give us.

Of course we're being kept in the dark. It's called suspense and it's a good thing - builds anticipation and hopefully delivers on it.

And no, you cannot just start making GT4 cars in GT3, it would be a completely different engine. It'd be like writing a book in French before you've learned English and then trying to translate it effectively, instead of writing fluently in the new language. The content (characters, story etc) is the same but the construction is very different.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up Eagle.

This is why (yes i'm mentioning it again!) i'm 'quitting' all GT4 new sources at the end of this month, including the Gran Turismo forums here, (my Gran Turismo website (GTSC link in sig) probably won't get updated again until after GT4 is released) so that no more surprises etc are ruined.

Prologue was partially ruined for me after i downloaded the starting video before Sony changed their minds and announced they were going to sell it here. :grumpy:

Why would Pd release all the info now and force you to wait several months with nothing new for you to get interested about. It's all their way of keeping you interested about their game.

I also have not seen any footage from Nur Snow, Paris and whatever the other one is as i mentioned ages ago in another topic that i'm not downloading any more videos.

I've only got 1 or 2 videos, i dont want to ruin the surprises of the game before I get to play it.

I think it has been too quite. Maybe they are going to push back the release again? ....Say it aint so....!

All I need it a vid of the Nurb with the GT40 or the Fiat doing a lap. Please PD.....

How in the hell can we have full lap vids of all tracks shown at E3, and not one Nurb vid? What is up PD???!!!! I want to see a powerful racer on the nurb, maybe a R89c.
