Is Performance Points Important ?

PP is a better number to go by when choosing a car than horsepower. Horsepower means nothing in a giant boat of a car with no handling. The only possible exception may be on a drag strip but even then if it's too heavy it will still be slower. The Ariel Atom is a good example of this. 245hp but so light it has a 0-60 of 2.8 seconds and great handling. Even my Mazdaspeed 3, as light as it is, only has a 0-60 of about 5.9 seconds with 267hp. The Radical SR3 is another great example. Heavier 500-600 hp cars would be left in the dust by these cars in most cases.

@ Johnnypenso: Tune & send me a Vanquish that's competitive at 500pp please? :D

(He could probably do it too.)

Many of the larger sports coupes and sports sedans are just outside the competitive envelope at most PP levels with some exceptions of course like the Skylines and GT-R's, mainly because of their weight. They handle well enough but their weight penalizes them in acceleration and in all out cornering speed and in tire wear in longer races. On larger tracks they can do well like Road Course Indy for example, but not on twisty circuits like Deep Forest. The recently released V12 Vanquish is about the best of the bunch and it's very competitive. It's in the 6:40 range at the Nurburgring online at 550PP.

But, I'll see if I have one and if so, I'll see what I can do:sly:

I happen to LOVE the saloon cars.

Not that I'm good at tuning them. (I usually look something up in the tuning section, and then salt to taste. haha.)

But other than having someone (there used to be a guy here on GTP that did)... set up an organized race with JUST saloon cars... No, they do get dialed out of pp racing. :(

I'll allow that some might be competitive in some situations. But generally, there are whole classes of cars that are just not. And you won't see them outside organized events. :( :grumpy: :(

I'd sign up for a Corsa Comfort race if someone organized one. HAHAHAHA.
