I've been noticing that over the last two weeks, people are drifting away from GT5P and there are fewer and fewer people to race against. I used to find a 12P race in a matter of seconds a few weeks ago, but lately I'm hosting more and more 2P battles and in some cases, hosting races with only me in it. This is becoming more frequent and I now have to ask the question...

Is Gran Turismo 5 Prologue dead already?

Can't say I'd noticed. Although server busyness comes and goes, particularly at weekends which, I guess, is understandable.

What events are you mainly joining? 600pp suzuka seems to always have a bunch of people on.

I hope the people that are drifting away are the punters.. ..those who enjoy the game, will stay anyway and hopefully they also are the ones who drives clean. Don´t mind if there´s less people, if the quality improves. It only takes 3-4 guys to have a good RACE, in my mind. If there´s more people behind you () and you won´t never know they were there.

This also might only do good for our organized events?

And I guess this is also a matter of the time of day you are playing?

edit: So I think the answer is no. We are just warming up..

It may sound stupid, but in the last weeks, the weather has become really nice in pretty much all of Europe. That might force at least a portion of the gamers to go outside once in a while.

Additionally, I think the number of people being annoyed by rammers and blockers online is growing, which means that the pressure on PD for bringing private online rooms is increasing.

Explain to me please - where is this "outside" of which you speak? I've had a look in the menus and it's nowhere to be seen.

I'd also say that Prologue is not "dead" already, but I am a little disappointed at the number of decent events available... still, it's still in it's infancy, and as more people/forums establish times where people can get together more effectively, I hope we'll see more activity.

That said, I don't mind if fewer people are racing, so long as the average quality of those who do race goes up...

ille have quality over quantity. Schools are on half term this coming week so we will have plenty of kids to race again, Great.

Hahahahahahahahaha nice one P3nt4!!!!

I too have heard of this and like you have not seen it in any menu. Although the missus has also spoke of this phenomenon. I am led to believe it involves supermarkets and spending of money :scared:

:nervous::scared: That's going to be one hell of a week

Less online played is a good thing for me, because i've stop GT5Ponline 2-3 weeks ago, and since i've made more races this week, i can tell that the online is much better ! The game is no more a destruction derby and i've had lots of good race with GTP, GT5Net ...members.

I sure wish there were more people playing online at any given time. I mainly play really late at night and on the weekends due to my work schedule / wife's schedule. Given the sheer numbers of people who purchased Prologue, I am sort of baffled as to why a number of events are completely empty at times. It's not like there are very many events to choose from. Tonight, PP600 Suzuka was completely empty and that is a fairly popular event. I could not get a race after 4 complete searches so I did Free Runs for a while.

I wouldn't say the game is dying. I just don't understand the long periods of inactivity based on the numbers.

Hopefully the inconsiderate drivers are starting to have their "fill" of the game and have moved on to something else. I have found that the quality of races has and is improving overall...and there are much less "disconnectors" than in the first month after release.

My gaming PC is on its last leg so I'm going to be "playing" GT5 for a while.

I saw a lot of activity this weekend just gone. I have seen a couple of two or three player races but I've also been prevented from joining at the last moment due to "grid full'.

Let's see what they do with the new events this Thursday... perhaps limiting the selection and thus herding the remaining online population into less possible choices, something like what the old JPN online used to be like.

I've found it near impossible to get more than 3 in the 500pp expert class at HSR the last few nights. The 750pp class was better but I lost faith after 5 disconnects from server either mid-race or before it had even started.

i guess you don't know but gta4 has been released and personally i have not played prologue since april 29. I made quite a few friends playing gt and when i log in to the network i see that they are all pretty much playing gta4 now.

disconnects ... before it(the race) had even started.

I'm not 100% sure, but i'm fairly certain a disconnect before the match starts is not because of a host 'actively' quitting. (that may make it a bit more bearable)

That's the funnies thing I've read in a long time...gawd.:lol: Especially when you're one of those that works and pretty much lives in your computers. 👍 Excellent.

One would hope the idiots will soon become bored and move on, that would be nice. I think the weather does indeed have some impact for sure on how often people are on.

I don't believe it's dead either. However, I do agree that sometimes the races are less full. I'm also finding, like AERO, that I'll host 2 to 4 people races, and on the odd occasion, just by myself (which was a shock the first time it happened to me! Didn't think that could happen).
Just came off from about 6 races in a row with 8 or so players (600PP Suzuka). Not surprsingly, since I'm in Australia, most of the other racers were too (with the odd night-owl from Europe ;))

Hi you guys. New member, but old time GT racer (GT2 onwards)

Is Gran Turismo 5 Prologue dead already?

Oh dear, I hope not; I only started playing online today, having finally secured the F2007.. and thus far have found no shortage of racers, thankfully.

No shortage of people to smash you off into the sand either. I stopped playing F1 CE for exactly that reason.

Oh well, the cycle continues.

Couple of big releases recently caused this I think. Mainly GTA IV. Heck, even I ditched GT5P for a bit just to play GTA IV (woo 51% throught GTA!)

:irked:

I am on half term holiday from college too. That said I am on study leave at the moment, so everyday is like a holdiay.

I mean I am doing plenty of revision and wouldn't dream of playing on GT5P :D

I think a lot of "assholes" from GT5p migrated to GRID demo... I've had a hard time playing yesterday; lots and lots of rammers, punters, glitchers... getting votekicked for being canadian (yay...) 3 times in dominated USA player servers... fun stuff.

I haven't found that much of a reduction in racers really, though I race in 500PP events and there aren't many racers there anyway, apart from at certain times. The racers that are there are generally good, with a few bad eggs occasionally.

I reckon GTA4 is responsible partly for any small reduction in numbers on GT5, and also maybe people getting tired of GT5 a little anyway. Personally I'm not remotely tired of GT, really enjoy the challenge, the handling, online modes, time trials, and driving my favourite cars as fast as I can.

When I feel like chilling, I fire up GTA4 and do some crazy races on that.

Yep for me I have only started my online 'campain' this week, and I hope there is plenty of life in online mode yet. I am almost certain there will be. GTP won't get bored of GT5P and thats what matters to me.

I was going to post the same sort of thread, but maybe worded differently.

Such as, "Is it me or are things calming down!"

I think the loonies (who think that GT is a game "dodgems" or "bumper cars"...I honestly think they believe that's how the game should be played to get faster lap times!) have left it alone now.

I think most good drivers were getting past them as best they could and leaving them behind. If they can't win they give up.

Even the HSR (which is one of my favorite tracks) has given up some good races lately. Fewer people yes, but far better quality racing, in my opinion.

When i feel like chilling, i just do some solo runs round Eiger or online races in a car which is easy to drive like an Evo or something.

So for me, no, this game is far from dead in my eyes regardless of how many people play it, when it boils down to it, I'm playing the game so as long as i can get a race when i want (which i usually can) I'm happy.

I bought the game when it first came out, and I still enjoy it to this day. I actually enjoy it more now that I have all the cars. So many choices in cars. I'm sure it will keep me interested until GT5 is released. I also don't play it every day, maybe three to four times a week.
