Is the Fanatec V2 base worth the money?

If it's smoking, why would you leave it plugged in at all? Unplug the wheel, put it in the box and return it for a refund.

As for my brake mod, unless you ordered sometime today,it has already shipped. Sorry to hear it sounds like you won't have a use for it.

Best of luck with the V2. I hope your decision proves to be wise.

Ok cool.

I just meant if I wasn't in the room and was busy downstairs or even out and I didn't unplug the wheel. It didn't smoke when I was using it, just did it all of a sudden and the smoke didn't just stop once something burnt out, it kept getting worse.

Reminds me of when I was building a 16amp dimmer and one of the coils was earthed... that thing just went up lol.

They sent me another one even though I asked for a refund....

I decided to open it any ways... my god the fan is loud, maybe that is why my old one blew? I never heard the fan lol.

Na it's not the adapter, we get them all the time in products to convert between EU and UK products. The power supply says 110 - 240v any ways, so it would have blown that if there was any thing up, that will regulate the power to the wheel. The adapter is just a passive thing that allows it to fit a UK plug, not like if I put a US product into a UK plug.

Just a faulty product.

Very unlikely to receive three defective products straight. The odds would be astronomical.

Third time lucky with the T500, I sent both Amazon ones back cause the second one had a dodgy pedal. I bought from Overclockers.co.uk who actually sent me a UK wheel and it has been working fine for a few hours. My only gripe is the Allen keys they gave me in the box were the wrong size :\ Bit odd but they were both too big.

The Basherboard mod makes a hell of a difference, I have my doubts that plastic bracket will last long as the holes seem too close to the edge. Seems ok for now though...

Tbh I cannot tell the difference between the GT6 version of the T500 and the TX, only thing I notice is you can hear what I'm guessing is the brushes. It is smooth as hell though and is way more powerful, I have to turn it down to 60% where I was running 80% on the TX on the PC.

Glad you like it. :) As for it holding up. I get this question occasionally and I will tell you what I tell everyone else. Almost no pressure is actually placed on the bracket during use. The bracket is only there to keep the bushings from working their way out or falling out when the pedals are inverted. The only plates I have replaced were from people screwing them down too tightly and they were replaced free of charge. The instructions state "Once they are in all the way, tighten them down lightly."

That plastic bracket will never break, as Basher stated, there's hardly any pressure on it, its just there to keep the bushing from sliding under pressure when you apply the brake. Mine has been on almost a year without any isssues.
