This thread is to point out all the expensive cars that are worth the price, as well as expensive wastes-of-time.

Good
Buick Special
Dodge Viper GTS
Dodge Viper SRT-10
HPA Motorsports R32
Jaguar XJ220 Road Car
Mazda Protege
Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car (fully tuned)
ProtoMotors Spirra
TommyKaira ZZ-II (with wing and racing tires)
TVR Cerbera Speed 12 (with wing)
Saleen S7
Shelby Cobra

Bad
Acura NSX
Ford GT
Ford GT Concept
Gillet Vertigo
Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car
Pagani Zonda (yep, all of em)
Panoz Esparante GTR-1
Spyker C8 Laviolette

well, its easy as hell to make money... so maybe some cars give more bang for the buck... but i dont know about calling it a waste. :)

Waste:
R390 GT1 Race car.
Panoz Esperante GTR-1
JGTC cars in general.

Good:
Jaguar XJ220
TVR Cerbera Speed 12
HPA Motorsports R32

Interesting topic. 👍

I wonder if it has been done before.

If any of you do a search and find something of value let me know in this thread and I will do a merge.

However, beyond that, I really must say, this is a great idea. 👍

Just for starters, this sort of thing really could help some of the newbs.
Plus, with the new system of buying and saving, I really don't see testing multiple cars as an option for some of us.

Frankly, they screwed up the old "buy, test, reload" system of testing which car to buy.
With that in mind, it's only fitting that we have a thread like this. :D

Now regarding a few test subjects...
The first two mentioned...

The R390 GT1 Road Car-
Best road car in the game probably.
Easily worth the money.
Also, this car can have a spoiler added which allows for some great downforce.
No real draw back to this car... Even the arcade version is a blast to drive!

The ZZ-II-
Not worth the buy in my opinion.
In my opinion the car just doesn't handle well enough to justify the price.
Sure the engine is great and the looks are awesome, but what good is that if you can't pilot a course with confidence? ;)
Just my opinion though... I could be wrong.

Now on a final note...

I suggest you go and edit your post... specifically, you may want to edit the title of this thread.

Maybe from "is this worth it???" to Is This Car Worth The Price???

Notice the "car" and capital letters.
(capital letters don't really matter too much... but the "car" part could really help give people an idea of what's going on before they enter the thread)

Anyway, just trying to help, sorry if I'm crossing the line. :guilty:

Look forward to talking about this more, till then,

Well you have to put a lot of money into it, that kinda suxs. I.E. Supercharger, lightening, tranny, suspension, brakes, exhaust...just about everything!

It's all good. Thanks for the input. The ZZ-II really is amazing with racing tires and downforce. How do I change the thread name?

I'm gonna have to disagree here with two of your cars.

The Shelby 427 Cobra is awesome, as long as you don't take it to the Nurb. Racing suspension and tires and you're set.

The TVR Speed 12, however, I could probably pull something better out of my toilet. Its impossible to drive at low speeds because of the wheelspin, even with the wing. Yes, I bought it, and severely regretted it

As for cars you should add:

Good:

Saleen S7 - add 20 pounds to the front, around the 20 spot or so, and that sucker will turn on a dime, don't forget racing suspension and tires. Great for the Supercar Challenge.

I can't come up with any other cars at the moment, as I haven't really played for a good while.

Edit:

@superfast: To change the thread name hit the edit button and modify what is says under "Title".

You can add just about anything MR to the good side, they've got excellent weight distribution. And you can't go wrong with an NSX.

The Speed 12 with downforce, has less wheel slip, and is very fast.

I can't believe you guys don't like the JGTC cars. My Woodone Toyota Supra is fantastic.

I also love the old Cobras, fun to drive!
Yeah, but for nearly 1.5 mil apiece, they sure do seem to be slower than the $500,000 DTM cars and the even mil GTS cars.

Bad:
Spyker C8 Laviolette
Acura NSX

Good:
Dodge Viper GTS or SRT10
Mazda Protege
Proto Motors Spirra

I'm curious about the Gillet Vertigo.

This car is expensive at 1 million credits, and I was keen, but someone said it was crap so now I'm dubious?

What's the consensus on the Vertigo? - Is that car worth the price?

@Kent - I always thought the ZZII was a great little car. Different strokes for different folks I guess... :)

Good:
the Zo6 is the best mid-price car in the game.
amuse s2000

Bad:
The JGTC cars, except the supras... those are actually worth the 1.3m IMO. All the other ones are pretty disapointing
The Audi R8 is would be worth the money if you couldn't win one.

The Gillet would probably be good if it had more downforce than a bicycle.

I know its not a car for sale but the Suzuki GSX-R rocks.
And its great they made the Ford AU V8 Supercar decent to drive this time around too.

Toronado
Good:
Dodge Viper GTS or SRT10
Mazda Protege
Proto Motors Spirra

Hahaha... ANOTHER Protege owner! ... a man after my own heart.

I'd agree that the Corvette is SERIOUS bang for the buck, in terms of handling and performance. The Camaro is also bang on for the fastest cheap car you can buy brand new in the game.

The Gillet Vertigo is a great sprint car. It's got better acceleration characteristics than most race cars in the game. But on anything but a small track, all the other racers will just reel it in on the straightaways.

Vertigo looks cool, super sexy yeah.. (if it was a babe, it'll probably look like britney spears).

If you really want it, get yourself another memory card. Copy your info to the other so that you have two. Then purchase the vertigo. If it doesn't fit you, then you could always dump it.. at least you got a second copy of your original file.

hehe.. haven't tried it though.. don't know if it works.

Good:
BMW M3 GTR.(won in the Shwartzwald Liga A - Euro hall)
The thing is built for the Nordshleife.
When I want to do a few laps on the Ring for fun, thats the car I always use.
Excellent handling, acceleration and decent top speed.

Bad:
Hmmmm......anything can be tuned to function acceptably, but out of the box I'd say the Ford GT40. Like trying to brake in a garbage truck.

bad, very bad: vauxhall calibra Super touring car '04. its not worth the 1, 350, 000 credits or whatever that it costs (im sure this car is basically the same as the unbuyable Opel Calibra, and is PAL only. its not worth the cost really.

Bad move: The Peugeot 905.
- I was in gotta-have-it-mode, I always wanted the 905 in the GT games, but I now regret the purchase. It's a good handler, but the 2-second wait between gearshifts is nothing short of obnoxious on the straights.

Good (but still overpriced): Nissan R390 road car.
- Tack on a Stage 2 turbo, and enter the Pro Supercar Races. Take off the turbo after the entry point, go race, and then you can kick butt with less than the silly 500PS/493HP demand for entry. A tiny bit of understeer, but nothing too horrible.
