Is there a down side to out matching the other cars in B-spec races?

In completing the 24 hour endurance races is there any reason to use a car of equivalent power and baby sit the bobs in order to take the gold, or can one just out class the other cars and in the fine tradition of Ron Popeel and just set it and forget it? Will it affect the choice of car given in the end for instance?
 
The serene knowledge that you had to really work for the XP and Bob's leveling up...

That said, there is some joy to winning the longer endurance races by a second or two over winning by 3 laps!
 
Purely for the Challenge of it. XP and prizes per race are fixed see the GT5 Matrix

If you just wanna clock off the events use the RedBull when ever possible and go and do something else. If you wanna have some input use equally matched cars at sit and scream abuse at your bob for not overtaking when you told him to!
