Is there a limit on game save file size???

I have looked around this site and google and couldnt get a definitive answer, so out of fear :scared: i ask the collective genius of gtplanet.

I came across this

aside from the fact that nitrous ox is a very nice and generous fellow,:) i got freaked out when i read that, as i know my save is at or above 4500. also, nitrous ox is quite an avid gt5er, and (i assume) knows his stuff.

i replied asking if that was true, but havent heard back yet :(

can anyone tell me if there is a limit or not on game save file size?

if there is, a) what is it? and b) how can i reduce it?

I'm over 6000 kb, I wouldn't worry, there was even an update that made game saves bigger to help combat glitching, at least we know PD is aware of this issue and have means to control it even if it were to be a problem.
 
There are limits on items, but I never heard about a limit on the game save file size anywhere.

I don't think you need to worry. There'd be a lot of people bringing this up in new topics and such if it were a real problem.

I've been playing since launch, without any item problems, so as long as you don't go wild you'll be fine.
 
The only limit I know if is quantitys, not file size.. Mine too is about 6mb, but I know there is a 2000 cap on cars and paints
 
I am also over 6mb.
Only limit I found is the 7000 combined item limit.

This is just my experience but I reached the car limit of 2000, and after that it wouldn’t allow me to receive anything new, not even the daily login bonus. Deleting cars from the garage didn’t make any difference but thankfully for me as I regularly back up saved data onto a USB in case of an YLOD, I just reloaded from that. I would have be totally stuffed otherwise though.

good to know! ill have to keep an eye on that number in the future, only at 600 now.

in any case, i back up every day or two because of trades anyways, with my main account saved on 3 different SD cards just in case!

i should copy those files to a computer, however.

does anyone know if you can email these save files? (just to myself for safe keeping on something i cant lose)

also, does anyone here know from experience if its possible to save such data on a PS Vita?(without hacking, etc)

Yes, for the big saves you can zip them as well.
 
Hey, I've been quoted, :)

What happened recently is I logged into GT5 for the 200% bonus and 10 paints / Museum cards, but the message was my items were full so I didn't get that days items and my bonus slowly reduced :(

I thought this was due to my file size being too big at 5300ish Kb's,

Apparently Museum cards affect your data gamesave size but mainly if you load the museum cards, but in order to send the museum cards you need to load them first and if you can only send 5/day and receive 10/day what can you do to reduce the number of museum cards ?

I am really close to 2000 cars especially if I include the 160 ish in the delivery truck out front :)
I used to save all my gamesaves religiously for my main and all my sub accounts, daily, but got too tedious and haven't been doing that for a while.

Will start to do this again at least once a week, to minimise potential losses.

Thanks to the OP I've been searching for these answers everywhere.

The museum cards don't count Digital-Nitrate has tested it:

It's very poor design by the game makers and there should be an option to turn this login bonus junk off. Just makes you suffer for logging in everyday because you will hit the limit no matter what. I made a feedback about the museum cards a while ago.

Yes, I'm not alone, how about a simple DELETE button on Museum Cards, just like with paints / Horns, or is that too logical ?
 
I have got up to 2000 cars and then managed to delete some to make space.
I find deleting paints is easier as for some reason, other then different shades, I have the same colour taking up multiple slots!

i thought that was paint from 2 different auto makers. i have

Obsidianschwarz (capital O)

but also

obsidianschwarz (no capital)

would using the paints instead of deleting them help at all i wonder?

my rims always seem to stay bare, but this would give to something to do with all these Schwarzes! (blacks)

Those are different paints. I am talking about all those solid blacks and white that I have!
Using the paints would also work. I have been doing this and still not run out of Solid black!

Still gives you a chance to try different colour combos.
