Is there a list of all possible AI opponents for each race?

Hi,

this is the first thread I start, altough I've been looking around and posting some replies here for a while.
I have been searching for a list with all possible AI opponents for each race. However searching on "opponents" or "AI" yields so many results I didn't have the time or the motivation to read them all.
So if such a list exist and it is in an obvious place, please forgive me and point this moron to it.
If it does not exist, is anyone willing to make it? I don't see myself doing it since my gaming time is very limited, due to my job, my grilfriend and my dog all claiming a conciderable piece of my time.
But I know there are people here with more time to play GT4. So maybe one of you could make such a list? Maybe a few of us together? I wouldn't mind doing some of the work for it, and then we could put our lists toghether to form a complete list for all GT4 races.
The reason why such a list would seem interesting to me is to avoid having to quit races because the opposition is just way to strong OR too weak. It could also help people figuring out how to get the most A-spec points with the driving abilities they have. Not everybody is good enough to beat race cars with underpowered stock cars, but everybody should be able to enter a race with a car that is competitive enough for their capabilities and yields more than 1 A-spec points.
Also, each race seems to have one car that sticks out and makes the race harder than it should be (i.e. Biuck Special in World Classic Car Series). If you are aware of those cars, you can avoid them (or seek them out if you're looking for a challenge)

Anyway, let me know what you guys think of the idea.

As far as I'm aware, no there isn't. However, I've started down the path with my Endurance write-ups and see no need to stop there. I'll probably continue on with it - since I'll be revisiting races in any case.

Hi BAD1

As you say, such a list would be very useful to nearly all GT4 racers.

For myself, I do keep a list of what cars show up for each race that I run. It's nowhere near complete yet of course but ... on day ... sometime ... maybe :D.

Perhaps it would be an idea to share the load and have people post their observations into a single thread with a 'moderator' who had the permissions to edit the first post and gather all the data together there?

Good idea. I did this for GT2 just so I could see the actual HP I was up against in all of those HP-limited races. For GT4 it would also be good to see, as I am into all sorts of lists and databases. :)

Would there have to be different lists for the different versions of the game? I think the basic opponents would be the same, but I know I have raced against the Spirra a few times and that car is not in the Japanese version of the game.

I don't have all the time in the world either, but I have managed to make lists in the past despite that. I could contribute with data from the North American release.

@Famine:
I took a look at your endurance race write up and there is some pretty usefull information there. I'm gonna look at the some of the other write ups and see what more I can find on this subject.

@ others:
Glad to see other people are interested in such a list too. I'm gonna try to compile the list in xls format using data from different forum users. When I said my time is limited, I meant mainly my ganing time. At work I have plenty of time to work on lists like that, I just don't have a lot of time to play GT4 because my girlfriend tends to hog the TV :grumpy:

The Spirra is not the only car that isn't in the japanese version, so there will be need for more than one list. There are also differences between the NA version and PAL.

Exactly. Or at least some asteriks in the list to notify the cars from different versions. All we gotta do is get a common format for everyone to follow and then we can just fill in the blanks and submit online when we get the chance.

Now imagine seeing that list when you enter each event, and being prompted to "Choose Five" from it.

Then imagine being prompted to "Choose Difficulty", and seeing the same scale we get in Arcade Mode.

That's all PD had to do to allow us to customize the races into what we're looking for. How hard would that have been for them to do?

Some of the cars have different names in the different versions too. What about them?

We have ways of dealing with them. :sly:

There are only a few and as long as the full name of each car is given, we can figure it out regardless of the version. Just takes some logic. Lexus=Toyota, Acura=Honda, etc, etc. I got an RSX, you got an Integra. No Mazda 2 in the States, no Demio either, but in our game it's the Demio even though we have the 6 and not the Atenza.

I am sure that we can figure them all out, especially with the watchful eyes of all of the members who will review the lists.

I don't think there is such a list. If someone created this list then they have a lot of time on they hands. The AI drivers changes the more times you enter the same race. Just like the A-Spec points

Well... actually, yes.

I've been working on an A-spec FAQ (slowly... for what seems like forever :guilty: ). In an attempt to make it more useful, I've been trying to incorporate that kind of information.

For each race I've worked out a grid. The purpose for each of these grids is to provide race information and a car(+mods) vs. lineup breakdown for 200p races.

There's a line to "recommend" mid-level cars. That is, "if you're an average driver but want a competitive race, here are some ideas". Yeah... it's kind of arbitrary.

And you'll see that each grid will have the "VS" box which is mean to list out all (at least most) the cars you may compete against.

There's other info in earlier parts of the FAQ. Any suggestions/assistance would be helpful.

I have the competition for maybe 1/3 of the races?

Example grids: (P.S. it does line up. This interface seems to throw away spaces)

It is a good idea. We all should note down the AI for every race we enter and we would soon have a pretty good list.
Off topic, :) just wondering why your dog takes up so much time? I can understand the Job and the Girlfriend, but a dog? Is he a show dog?
My dog is happy to sit on the lounge next to me and watch. When the game is loading I give him a pat and it keeps him happy. 👍
If you do not have enough time for job, dog, GT4 and Girlfriend ditch one of them. My suggestion is the . :guilty: :scared: :sly: :dunce: 💡 ... , no I shoudn't say that. Maybe you could get your Girlfriend to either look after the dog or let the dog play GT4 for you.
We have to get you playing more GT4 somehow? 👍

That's helpful.

But it still needs to be cross-referenced with the Preview Data so you can get the HP.

In about half of races, the cars aren't stock.

I don't envy anyone who tries putting this list together by himself! An organised group effort is gonna be needed like its been said...

It did not appear this way in my Pal game.
Modified AI cars in two races, Opel Speedster and Peugeot 206. You get 200 points with fully modded cars so AI are definately modified.
I generally used unmodified cars in the majority of races and the A spec points given (low) would indicate I was competing against unmodified AI.
Maybe it depends on what type of car you use and how much it is modded?

Yup, an organized group would be helpful. I have probably 1/3 done. If anyone's interested in helping out I can tell you which are complete (or at least ready to be double checked) and which aren't.

The computer's kinda sneaky that way. :sly:
You have to Preview the races to see it

A good number of the races have an HP "line" and a "pool" of cars the CPU picks from. Any car in this pool that starts with HP below the "line" is souped up to near the line. Any car that starts above the "line" is left as it is.

You can see it in the example grids I provided. Clubman's line is about 300hp. So the Elise 111R is souped up to 300hp. But if the Lotus Carlton shows up it'll start with it's stock HP of 387. Tuning car has a line of about 400hp. So if the Spoon S2000 is there, it'll get souped up to 400hp but if the HPA show up it'll start with IT's stock HP of 522hp.

This happens to be true of a LOT of the races. Start Previewing and you'll see what I mean.

Given that the computer averages the ENTIRE lineup in order to calculate points, this is actually helpful because it helps even the field.
