Is there a way to save game in the middle of a championship?

Hello, I there a way to save game in the middle of a championship?
GT7
I am going through the cafe on GT7 and some of the championships it gives you are 5 tracks with 5 laps of each, is there a way to save after each race so I don't have to do them all at once?

The game saves automatically, and does so between each race. You can suspend and resume at any time.

However you can only continue in the championship until you have completed it. All other map icons will be greyed out.
