I'm currently doing the 24h le mans race and now that it's dark after 6 hours of driving, I found out, I changed the button layout of my G25 so that I can't turn on headlights for my car :(
is there a way to change the button layout while the race is ongoing?

that's already at maximum... at least the track isn't too dark - I would have more problems at Nordschleife, I guess. However, does anyone know, how many hour the night lasts in a 24h race? My lights went on after 5:30 and it was completely dark after around 6 hours...

Your headlights should come on automatically, and should default to high-beams. Of course some people find it easier to drive with low-beams on some cars.

Sounds like it worked for you after all.

Could you maybe suspend the race at a pit stop and then change it from the main menu before resuming? I've never suspended a race so I don't know if you even see the main menu or not.

Well, the head-lights were indeed switched on automatically, but not the high-beams (that's what I meant)... driving only with low-beams is quite difficult in some parts as you can barely see the dimensions of the road ahead and I got onto the grass a couple of times.
Unfortunately you can't go into the menus when suspending the game - after starting the game again you are thrown right into the race again. Actually that's quite a poor implementation by PD in my opinion and rather looks like a quick&dirty fix than a thought-out implementation.

That's too bad. I thought I remembered it not forcing the resume until I entered GT Life when I suspended a championship, but could be mistaken as I only did that once a while ago. So I assumed it would be the same.

No. Options for button configuration are only in the options menu, not during any racing.

Possibly a bit risky, but what happens if you unplug the usb connector of the wheel? I think it ought to default back to the controller. Maybe you can do this while in the pits, run a few laps with the ds3 and then switch back at the next stop, not forgetting to work the brakes before you hit the first big corner.

Don't you have a DS3 controller where you can change the beam of your lights?

excellent suggestion... did that to find out that my car (toyota minolta) doesn't support high-beam *sigh*

there was only a bunch of cars that do, right? only premium?

All of the buttons on the controller are active all of the time except for steering. I'm not sure how it works if the controller is set to #2, but if it's #1(as it should be so you can use it for the menus instead of the valuable and often awkward buttons on a wheel) you can just hit any other button on that - unless lights have been unmapped there too. So at least if it's #1 then no need to pull any plugs.

I can't believe I forgot about using the DS3, I always have mine next to me in case I need the RA menu.

Yes, it's only(mostly) premiums that have variable lights. On some standards you can toggle the display on the HUD, but it doesn't do anything else.
