Is there any way to launch a Supra RZ '97 in 1st gear for the 1/4 mile

I want to know if there is a way to launch a Supra RZ '97 in 1st gear for the 1/4 mile drag and have a better time than launching it in 2nd. I have seen 3 different tunes for this Supra and all of them are based on launching it in 2nd gear. Thanks in advance.
 
You'll get a better time at X with a 1st gear launch but it doesn't work that well at Indy. From all the runs I've done at Indy with the supra, 1st gear and human reaction it's slower than a 2nd gear launch....but thats just my experience.
 
That launch is only good to get another .06 or so out of a car that would launch in second, only guys going for fastest possible leaderboard times use this method as it won't work for you at Indy, I don't bother with it myself.

You mean .006 !

I found at SSRX first gear launch is .006 faster from redline

But at Indy and SSRX (set rpm launch) I found 2nd gear to be fastest

I'd always us 1st to launch unless your remaining gears need to be closer together. This applies to the 1/4 mile mostly.

2nd gear launches are used for super close gearing in later gears.
 
I do hav close gearing so I think that second gear launch would be better. Can someone give me a simple transmission tune so that i can launch the RZ in 1st?

All you have to do is make a transmission setting with 1st gear set all the way to the left. do a run in it. If it taps the redline the you need to set a higher top speed. Go back and make a new transmission setup with a top speed 10mph higher than before. make sure 1st gear is set to far left. try again and if still hitting redline the redo with 10mph higher. keep it up until 1st gear grabs and holds without tapping on redline.
heres is a tune that took me 15 mins to figure out, with 2 screaming kids in my ear and a wife calling me to tell me nothing.
set transmission to defaul, set final gear to 3.450, set top speed to lowest, set final gear to lowest, set 1st gear to far left, set 6th gear to far right, set 5th gear to far right, set 4th gear to far right, set 3rd gear to the right but only until it lines up well with gears 4 and 5, not even but that nice little angle.
there is an automatic transmission for the Supra running a very unimpressive 9.980 1/4 mile.
