So honestly, is there ever going to be a newly released wheel? Honestly, the G27 is EVERYTHING a wheel should be.

Just wondering if Logitech would ever consider doing different types of wheels I guess, because honestly a G27 is the best.

The Logitech G27 is the best wheel made by Logitech but there are better wheels out there. The Thrustmaster T500RS is my personal favorite.

"Better" is way too subjective, but here goes:

T500RS
Clubsport Wheel
ECCI Trackstar 7000
Frex FFB Wheel
Leo Bodnar Wheel
CSR Elite

I'm sure there are more I overlooked.

I'm thinking the T500 RS as well, but as others stated, I think, it comes down to each person. :)

I've used a G27 for years but really craving for a T500 RS at the moment, with the shifter, the Ferrari GT wheel attatchment, maybe some Fanatec Clubsport pedals too!

The G27 is awesome, a great all rounder but there are plenty more fish in the sea, some of those fish taste wonderful!

I had a G27 and it was a great wheel. It is gear driven and that can be felt but really does not impede racing. The T500 is belt driven and is a much better wheel, excellent FFB. I also used a Fanatec Elite wheel and although it was highly touted as a awesome wheel I had too many issues with it and sold it. Fanatec's newest, the Club Sport is a highly regarded wheel. It carries a $700 price for the base and one rim. Personally I feel the T500 is the best buy out ther as of now.

It is reliable, they continue to upgrade the firmware and there are some excellent wheels offered by Sam Maxwell. I use a Momo Mod 26C and I love it.

G27 + AP Electrix Brake Mod = Cheap way to get proper immersion for driving.
(Tweaking with 670 degree turn radius to get close to zero deadzone. Possibly investing bit more than AP Electrix and getting TSS Hydraulic Brake mod)

So answer to topic, yes it is best, you can buy one for spare and still going cheaper than many "good" wheels.
Most of broken parts can easily repair on your own, parts found RadioShock and many similar shops.

I swear by the Ap electrix mod, it really makes a world of difference.

I too am a G27 fan (and former owner) but if you go T500RS you won't be wanting to go back.

I only reason I got a G27 because the T500RS is noisy and it makes a load humming sound from the fan.

Really? Although the fan can be a little irritating I admit, the gear chatter on the G27 is far more jarring. I'd rather have a little fan noise than risk ruining my wheel.

Still look at the bright side, you saved like $400 and you're happy, can't beat that.

I've driven with the T500 and CSR Elite and prefer the G27. We've done back-to-back tests at work with real racers and they constantly perform best with the G27 and find it has the best "real world feel". Of course this is all subjective... But the biggest comment from drivers is the G27's FF algorithm provides the best tactile feedback, letting you know what the car is doing. The T500 is a close second, and the rim is a big improvement over the G27.

The G27 pedals, with the GTEye spring, are better than the T500 pedals. The T500 brake is really lacking, but can be improved substantially with BasherBoard's "even stiffer brake mod". Although, again the driver's feedback is the G27 brake with a GTEye spring gives the right feel and the sweet spot of the spring is excellent.

I've modded my G27 quite a bit, but can go almost as fast with the stock one at work (it only has the brake spring changed).

A slightly off topic question, but how does the brake mod that comes with the T500 compare to Bashers?

I too will chime in for the g27 bandwagon, though I don't have much experience with other wheels, besides the ol, logitech Momo I have. (read, OLD, not the new, red version). For the price, you really cant beat the g27. However, is it the best wheel out there? No, but you won't have to part with a kindey to own a g27 either. And its easy to mod. I have the GTEye spring, which is great. I think better than a load cell honestly, since you actually get peddle movement and not just a static feel of you pressing harder with very little movement. I've also modified the shifter and added an ebrake, and reverse mounted my pedals. My next, and probably last mod is gong to be to add a new, aftermarket wheel. For just 200 bucks, this wheel really is unbeatable, I can't believe that logitec is pulling out of the wheel biz, they did a good job.
