Is there something wrong with my digicam?

Why does it take the pics so blurry. Is it the camera, or me? I read on the instructions that you may need a tripod to take clear night pics, but a tripod!!!

The first pic was taken from a stationary position, while the second was done by hand helding.

Do all the digicams have this problem? or I may need to exchange it for a higher model?

Btw, I have a Coolpix 2100
 
The first one looks great, because the camera was sitting on a base and didn't wiggle during the long exposure. The second one looks blurry because no matter how still you try to stand, you move. Just what I would expect.

There's nothing wrong with your camera. Low light means long exposures means blurriness unless you have something rock solid to set the camera on.

No, but I've got years of experience with 35mm cameras. The bottom picture looks just like a handheld 35mm night shot, with a long shutter speed.
