Is this a game or work?

This isn't a b*tch thread. I love GT5 and have logged days on it so far.

I'm hours away from getting that beautiful X1, and I wonder why I'm putting so much time into a GAME to get one car. I wonder if getting that car will make me appreciate the game more, or make me feel like I wasted several hours grinding for it.

I always have the opportunity to work extra hours for more pay and usually turn it down. I could put some work into my personal vehicles for a better profit when I sell them, but I don't. I could be clubbing with my friends and expand my social lifestyle, but I'm not. I could be cleaning my house and yard making my property more appealing.... but here I sit.

What the heck drives us to play (work) for hours for such little reward. 100% completion is one thing, which doesn't require grinding but simply winning the races. But for one car? I spent 4 hours one morning grinding to buy the famous FGT. I ran a couple races with it and felt kinda robbed.

I'm not having so much fun with this game anymore. I've moved on to other games, one that just hit the market is exciting and relatively easy to unlock the best cars in the game. I want to get back into the GT5 groove, but don't want to be disappointed again. It's a GAME, not a job.

How do you guys feel after crossing level 25 or so? How do you keep the game exciting?

It's a game that you have to work hard to get what you want. It's been that way since the first game. I don't think it's gonna change anytime soon.

That's what happens when you plug through a game designed to last you at least -- and probably a lot more than -- a year in just a month.

Play less or play online / do more just for fun free practice runs and such. Ease up on the game progression bit.

Driving the ordinary and odd cars is what keeps me playing.

I find that awesome race cars like the X1 and FGT just aren't that fun to drive, there's no drama to them. I dont even care about advancing my level any more, its lifted a burden off my shoulders, I play how I want to play now.

I had a similar feeling Like I needed an X1 but Once I had it I didnt really care. You work real hard jumping through hoops to find out you dont care about the reward much. Grinding in order to level up and get certain cars can definatly put a damper on the "fun factor".

I'm already Driver Level 26.. And I'm halfway on Professional Series. :)

Key is all Special Events/Seasonal Events done on gold. :)

I think they shoud release GT5 Online Edition with all cars accessible right from the start, all tunning option available for free, so I can concentrate on tuning the cars for online racing and hot lapping ... racing against AI to gain money is boring.

If not all cars, at least one from each level relatively cheap.

i feel like it's work at the moment

I miss Midfield Raceway :(

That and Seattle. I've been to Seattle many times. It was fun to race on the same streets I cruised for years. And racing down the front stretch where the piers are, under the freeway. I was excited to see the better graphics, but bummed it wasn't included.
