Is this a good moment to pick up a Fanatec GT2 wheel?

I own the GT2, so far so great. Owned for over a year. Interesting that Simracing Hardware are bringing adapters GT2 and GT3RS that allow any wheel to be used. So that's coming soon.

*Cut*
Whoa, another reason to buy a GT2.

WOOOT!!

Caz
I run ffb @100 on wheel, 90% in game. My wheel has been on for upwards of 9 hours on occasion and I never felt the fan got loud. My fat ps3 is louder.

The only fan annoyance is a minor squealing for the first minute or two.

do not ignore the fan noise at startup.
this is a sign that the fan motor bushings are dry and will eventually cause the fan to lockup.
replace the fan motor or risk overheating!

The noise isn't a problem (who plays racing games on mute?), the health of the wheel is.

Is it dangerous to set the FF at high settings for long amounts of time?

testing has shown that when running the wheel with high ff settings the motor tends to run at the temp limit or higher than the motor manufacturers safe limit.
keep the ff settings to below 80% and limit the runningtime by letting it cool down periodicly.

I owned a GT2 for a year and have had the CSR since it was released. The CSR is better. It runs more cool, has much better paddle shifters and its force feedback is smoother. And, it cost $50 less than.the GT2.
